I changed my plugs. I also forgot to mention. It's easier to stall and when
I give it gas it takes forever to speed up. The rpms take so long. It's real leggy. Sumthing is really off. I just don't know what :(.. Please help guys |

Plug wires. Which wires are going where? Double-check.

Almost sounds like the timing chain skipped a tooth, seeing it more and more. Try advancing the timing and see if that helps. If that helps, then the chain is most likely going bad you will be lucky to get 5 miles before it jumps again you loose all power.
However a there are a few smaller things to check as well. Make sure you did not blow a fuse for one bank of injectors. If that happens you lose 1/2 your injectors, the car will run rough, but will run. Have you checked to see if the cap/rotor are in good shape. I would go over all the little things and once you have eliminated all the little things then you will have to look at that timing chain again. Its a pain in the butt job, but with time the average home mechanic can do it. |

Cap rotor plugs wires all good. New cat. Still same thing. Really rough
idle.. I find that it's easy to stall when I'm driving |

Well pull the cap off, and put a breaker bar on the crank bolt, its 19mm IIRC, gently turn the crank with the breaker bar until you see the rotor start to move, then turn the crank the opposite direction. they should move in almost perfect unison, more than a few degrees of slop means the timing chain is suspect.

Thankyou so much ccaptain. Turned out.. It was my fuse for the fuel injection.. But it keeps blowing.. Now I was looking into this... http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/124585.html That's is what I'm. Having now.. I am. Shorting out somewhere but how could or where could be... Also. I mentioned I have a leak between the. Inner exhaust manifold and downpipe. Rusted out.. The gasket is gone from there... Could this be a related issue |

Well I am glad it was just a fuse for one of the banks. 1st things first unplug the injector harness its a large flat connector near the dogbone mount. Then re-insert the fuse and see if it blows. Obviously you can't start it, but you can try and crank it over. If the fuse does not blow then you need to look at the injector side of the harness. If it does blow then you need to look at the engine side of the harness. There are several places where the injector harness comes in contact with engine mounts and such make sure that it has not rubbed through the insulation. I had a similar issue where I was blowing a bank fuse on my V8 and turned out it was just bit of the harness had been rubbing, cost me about 20 cents worth of tape to fix it and never had the issue again. As to the exhaust leak, I doubt it would have anything to do with it, unless it was blowing exhaust gas right onto the harness and the harness is not in that area.
Again glad it was a simple fix. Now just find the short and away you go. |
