Hi all, I have a 85 GT thats not running. It dropped a valve and broke a few things. (spring, rocker) I'm not sure what else is wrong with it I bought it not running. I do have a spare engine, trans., and cradle that does turn over. I don't have the know-how and my dad doesnt really have the time and by next year around this time I will be getting my "N" so I desperatly want it to be ready to go. Does anyone know of any inexpensive shops that have worked on Fiero's before, that can get my fiero running? Thanks, Mark |

Inexpinsive and mechanic don't usually go alone. Working on cars is not only time consumming but a solid hour of turning wrenchs can be a lot of work. Your cheapest mechanic will be in the $50 per hour range and most will charge at least 8hrs to do a straight drop and swap of a cradle with engine and trans on it.
There are a couple guys on this forum that might be able to do the job, but don't plan on it being cheap. Your best bet is to try and tackle the job yourself and post up questions as you go along. If you really don't know or don't want to try to do it yourself, plan on spending about $1000 to get your old engine out, the new engine in and replace all the fluids, filters, plugs, wires, rotor cap. |
