    Posted: 09 June 2012 at 5:09pm

The BC Corvette Club is putting on an autocross this coming Saturday, June 16th. It will be a single pad event.

Should be lots of nice Vettes in attendance. Hope to have some nice Fieros out there as well.

Quote

You are invited to a Corvette friendly event (open to all makes & models) at the BC Driving Centre in Pitt Meadows. This auto slalom event will be designed to make an enjoyable day for first time and experienced racers. We have soft 12” cones to mark out a course on flat pothole free asphalt that will allow you to experience your cars abilities at safe low speeds in first and second gears. Please arrive at 8AM for tech and registration. Note that the approach to the BC Driving Centre is through residential streets and all speed limits should be carefully followed. (See the link for directions to the event). There is a sound limit of 92 decibels for the event, that should accommodate all street legal cars.

If possible, please contact Vic Nightscales: vnightscales@netscape.net or 778-593-1180 to confirm your attendance, but we will not turn away any last minute arrivals. Cost is $40 per driver.

BC Driving Centre, Pitt Meadows Airport.  See Map at http://www.bcdrivingcentre.com/map.php

Brian, what's it going to take to get you come out to the track again with the '86 GT?

Colby's getting pretty cocky with his '88 Formula. I can't quite catch him with the duke. I need you to come out and help put Colby in his place.

I'm pretty sure Brian will still beat my time, my tires are noticeably worse now that they're basically at the wear bar. Gotta save up some tire money.

Me, my dad, and my brother are all going to this event. If there are any potential first time autocrossers out there, this is a good first event to go to. And I want to see Harrison come out again.

I'll see what I can do. I really want to, not sure if I'll be able to make it
out.

Agree 100%.

The autocrosses put on by the Corvette Club are probably the most laid back, least competitive of all the autocrosses hosted by the local car clubs. (Porsche Club is a close second.) Doesn't matter if you're a veteran of many autocrosses or a first time rookie, the event is just for fun. Doesn't mean you don't try and improve your driving each time out on the course, but everyone is friendly and supportive and no one is ridiculed for driving an older slower car. Ask me how I know!

I hope the rain holds off...Junary here, the coldest in Vancouver history they said on the news this morning, amazing how fast it changes.

Kerstin and I may come out for a visit...you should borrow my R888's one race day Patrick:)

Thanks Brian. If I was certain that this weekend was going to be dry, I'd take you up on your offer right now!

Yes, it was a little damp today. Gary and I were treading water together doing track duty out at buoy #4.

We made the best of a less than perfect situation. It was fun.

Glad you had fun.
I have the next corvette autocross in my calendar so unless something
breaks, will be there. (July 14)
Looking forward to seeing videos and pictures from today.

Wet weather makes for difficult driving conditions, but it also makes for interesting pictures.

Here's just a few images taken by Ken Au-Yeung. Many more images can be seen Here, up to 1920x1280.

This is Gary asking me if my bilge pumps were keeping up...

Gary was really keen to get the 914/6 back on the track this year after making some changes in the off-season.

The duke and I sliding around in the rain...
