I just finished reading a post from Canadians who were complaining about the duty that UPS charges when they import to Canada.
I resolved this by joining Kinek (no fee for joining) which allows me to ship to any one of their locations (Blaine or Sumas are my choices, but there are many more) and then they E-mail me when the parcel is ready for pick-up. The cost is $5.00 for up to 50 lbs and they will keep it for you for up to 30 days. They will receive any sized parcel, even a car! Any body else using them, and if not, why not? |

I have heard of several places like that, but just never had a personal need. Most of the stuff I try to get shipped via FedEx or Canada post, and if they can't I have it shipped to my house in Oregon, then have someone down there pick it up for me and re-ship it as a gift, or just pick it up on a trip down there.

I use a place called TSB shipping in Point Roberts. Same idea as you describe. Very nice service.

Also a place called the mailbox in Lynden, same as you described. A place called ship happens does the same thing as well.

My dad uses ship happens sometimes.
Another way to avoid the UPS stupid fees, is go to a customs office with your receipt, and pay any dues there without having any of it go to UPS. Then UPS has to give you the package without charging you anything because you already paid. |
