Hey, I'm trying to get a agreed upon value insurance policy for my Fiero and I need to get it appraised and a vehicle inspection report. Does anyone know any good places to go for either of these? Thanks, Ryan |

Hey, Thanks for the link. Some interesting info there. However, I need a professional appraisal for the insurance company, and was just hoping someone could point me towards a appraiser who knows / likes fieros before going to the yellow pages and picking one at random. Thanks, Ryan |

Where are you located? There is an accredited appraiser that is recognized by icbc that I used here in Victoria. He seemed to appraise it very fairly and I was happy with the result. |

I'm located in the PoCo, so I would need someone within reasonable driving distance. sorry for not posting that initially, I forgot that WCF wasnt just located in the Vancouver area and had members further away. |

I know Bassman had looked into this at one point, I will see if I can point him in your general direction. There are a few people that will be needing this to be done in the next 6-12 months. I was actually thinking about posting this topic just tonight, as I was curious about a few things. One of my wifes Fieros is an 86SE which in the normal realm of things is not an expensive Fiero. Until you add up the modifications done to it. Corvette brakes, coil over suspension, all poly suspension bushings, lowered 2", powered by a SBC V8 and 5spd Getrag trans-axle. If you were to simply drop a stock 86SE off at a shop and say replicate this car, it would be $15,000-$20,000 all totaled for parts and labor. I would hate to see something happen to the car and have ICBC offer something like $3000 for the car. I am in a similar situation with my own 85GT V8 Fiero. My 88GT is basically worth what it is. Its a factory stock Yellow 88GT, needs some TLC before it would even be considered a decent show car.
Hugh who is in PoCo getting his car built at B&N Hotrods will need an appraiser to do his car as well. With the numbers being over $50k invested into the car, my recommendation to Chris was to not even let the car leave the shop until the appraisal was completed and ICBC had signed off on it. This post was not suppose to be this long winded. Sorry. :( So in
Now I am going to go and try to find Bassman and send him over here. |

Hey Captain Fiero, thanks for pointing Bassman in my direction. Here's my experience so far trying to get an agreed upon value policy, one where I could actually drive my car! I originally tried to get a policy through ICBC, but the only option they would give me was collector car insurance which isn’t even an option to me because I have an N. I then went to Canadian Direct and they said they would try to give me a agreed upon value policy if I did a list of things for them. They need me to give them high quality pictures, have the car mechanically inspected, and had a certified appraiser appraise it. They couldn’t guarantee that the underwriters would sign off on it though they were fairly confident that they would. If all of this works out they would insure my car for the appraised value, with no additional restrictions (such as no new drivers, cannot drive to work regularly, etc…) BTW, my car is a 88 formula in almost as new condition . Thanks, Ryan |
