Hi all.

I'm getting rid of the 2.4 in the 84 Fiero. It's ready to come out except 1 little thing....

I'd rather not disconnect the high pressure hoses on the AC compressor. Optimally I'd like to remove the compressor with lines attached and get it out of the way and lower the engine. There doesn't look like there's enough room to get the compressor unit by the water pump and firewall to get it up and out.

I thought perhaps as I lower the engine (Raise the car) I might be able to get enough clearance to slide it by then. Does anyone have experience with this??

Thanks,

Chay

Haven't done it on a duke (it's a 2.5 BTW), but it's standard practice to unmount the pump, stuff it out of the way, then swing the cradle.

I think it even makes mention of it in the FSM.

That makes a good deal of sense.

I hope it works out. The next thing I have to do is get to the mount bracket bolts on the compressor...they look like they are burried!

Bah...  if I can do it on a V6 (now THAT's a tight fit!), you should be able to do it on a  duke with one hand tied behind your back.  ;)

Strange that you mention that; I tried it with one hand behind my back, but it didn't work.

Hah.

I didn't make a serious effort, but I guess that's what is next.
