Hi all. My name is Tom and I am new to this forum, in fact I've only had my '87 GT for a couple of months. I've been reading this thread with interest because mine has some similar problems. Only, the PO cut a coil from the springs and now it feels as though it has no suspension travel left, especially in the front. I'm seriously considering putting original springs back on along with new shocks/struts. What do you think?

One coil from the stock spring is not that bad, and should barley be noticeable.  If you like the look you can buy proper lowering springs for about $225 or pick up a set of used stock springs for nearly free.  As for the shocks and struts, that is a really good idea regardless of the springs.

Thanks Capt Fiero for your reply. Well, he said that he only removed one coil but I stand by what I said in the earlier post - feels as though there is no suspension left. I think, first, I'll get some stock springs. Do I have to buy them specifically for a Fiero or are there other cars (that would be easier to find) that would fit. Thinking mostly of the rear here, from the borrowed front from other cars.
