Here's the map for the run:

The total distance is 224 Kms.

Ideas?

[EDIT] Just so my following post makes sense , I should mention that Damien had originally posted a map with the proposed route going all the way to Powell River.

-----------------------------------------------------

When I suggested the Sunshine Coast Run, it was never my intention to include a second ferry trip and all go all the way to Powell River.

In my opinion that doubles the cost for very little gain. It also adds to the time required which again I don't feel is warranted.

The ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale costs $42.35 for the car and $12.60 for each adult. That's for return fare, which means it costs nothing further to return. It's about a half hour ferry ride each way.

My original idea was to drive no farther north than Earls Cove. I'm not suggesting that Earls Cove itself should be a destination (there's nothing there except for a ferry terminal), but there are plenty of beautiful spots to visit all along the Sunshine Coast between Gibsons (where The Beachcombers was filmed) and Earls Cove.

I've travelled this highway almost every summer for the last 20 years. It's a great road for cruising in a Fiero, although interestingly enough, I've never driven a Fiero on this highway!

Driving all the way from Langdale at the south end of the Sunshine Coast to Earls Cove in the north takes about an hour and a half. So we'd be looking at three hours to go from one end of the Sunshine Coast to the other and back. That would give us lots of time to spend at a selected spot or two or three along the way, and still make it back in plenty of time to catch a ferry to return home later that same day.

If there's any interest by club members to go on a one day journey such as this sometime next spring/summer, I can research further to see what spots we might like to visit. Suggestions would of course be welcome. It's a beautiful area, and I don't think we'd have any trouble finding spots we'd all enjoy seeing. Honestly though, just the drive itself would probably make it all worthwhile.

I was under the impression that the one fee got you on both ferries.  Assuming that was true, then why not go to the end....:)

OK, I'll change the map.

Afraid not. It would be another $41.30 for the car and another $12.30 for each adult to get on the second ferry.

Again, I'm good for this provided it's done when I have my license again.

I don't have a license. Doesn't mean I can't drive.

Yeah, that backfired, didn't it?

Break enough laws and you'll be someone's "sissy" at the Crowbar Hotel.

We need to pic a date for this drive, and get it in motion, make sure that there are enough people willing to go.  Often it turns out that the more a run is talked about and the more people that say they are coming the more "other" people come. (IE, Bob will go if Joe is going and so on)
