Yesterday I noticed that when I engaged the clutch I heard a dry sound. Only did 5km's When I started the car tonight at David's hse I had a squeal sounding like a wet fan belt. I drove home (Hwy driving-top gear 4th). The drive home was smooth and no symptons seem to show or sound? When I got into the carpark in my building I put the car into 1st to go over the speed bumps. I suddenly got the squeal noise again put it into neutral and the couldn't change back into any gear. Smelt burning, turned the car off. White Smoke was coming from the right side of the gear box where it butts up to the right driveaxle. I let it cool down and started the car again as I had to move the car. I was then able to engage 1st gear to park in my space. But this time the clucth pedal engaged a lot closer. After turning the car off - I checked the clutch master cylinder fluid and it is full. I have also removed the speedometer to check the gearbox oil - its full. This problem seems to have come out of the blue. I had a new clutch installed earlier this year (Luk clutch). Any ideas guy's Thanks - Nigel 86 GT 4 - speed manual |

Sounds like the release bearing packed it in, or the fork broke and it slipped sideways.

I had a buddy get some weird, kinda random clutch problems recently that seem to have been related to muck in his hydraulic lines. Did you get them flushed out well when you fixed the clutch? Are the metal lines deteriorating?

Well it turned out to be a shot throwout bearing. The car is still at the shop. Won't be ready until Monday so now Nigel can't bring it to the club meeting. :( Well on the bright side, he is getting a 4.10 4spd installed at the same time, so the car is going to be much quicker off the line.

Well -WARNING WARNING WARNING DO NOT USE MisterTransmission on 104th in Surrey.
I finally got my car back 9 day after giving it to them and its been off the road for 11 days. At this point it will be with H/O as he charged me another $760 dollars ontop of the original $1265.00 - Now this is with a 100% parts and labour on my clutch and 12 months or 20K. It was done in Feb 2007 and I put about 7K on my clock!!!!!! FieroZen |
