Now that there are some nicer days I figured I would get out and wash and take some new pictures of my fiero. When I got it:  Exterior       Interior    Tried to get a picture to better show the nice trim overlays.  Engine   List of mods to date: 3800 series 1 supercharged V6 from a 1995 oldsmobile and everything that goes with that- exhaust, intake, ECM reprogram, axles, walbro fuel pump, etc 4T60-e Reversed the lettering on engine cover and added Pontiac emblem Trans cooler behind passenger lower quarter panel Trunk light switch Aftermarket sound system JVC head unit, kenwood and sony speakers and tweeters. Limited Tuning hyper silver rims with nankang NS1 tires Stock rims have michelin alpins I don't have the recall weatherstripping so I put in a gutter of sorts in front of the decklid Have lowering ball joints from Rodney Dickman, just havn't had time to install them yet. Thanks for the compliments guys
 For now I'm using the Nankangs for autocross, the price was right and they're much better then using snow tires  Once I am done with school and have some extra cash I will think about picking up some dedicated race wheels. |

It has been a while since I was in this thread.
I will add some more pictures of the F23 swap.          And my most recent updates:  Finally got around to installing the tint that I bought a couple years ago... The shifter I got from Dave I decided was a little too short for me, so I made another one. too short on the left, my new one in the middle, and stock on the right. It's been a while, I think it's about time I update this thread.
Let's start with my battery relocation. I'm cheap, so rather then buy a prebuilt battery box, I made one. And decided to finally do some fiberglass work. First, make a mold:  oil bottle boxes are the perfect size for making a battery tray. I will probably cut them down to get rid of the loops of wire at some point, but I just used the cables as is. They were out of an oldsmobile aurora, which has the battery under the rear seats. After many years it is about time I updated this thread. I haven't actually changed much to my fiero since the last update, but have been driving it lots. After 5 years and over 70,000km, it will no longer be my daily driver. We needed something that I could drive the kids around in and insuring 3 cars is not worth it. So it gets to go back to being the toy.
I finally got my windshield replaced so I'll be ablle to take it autocrossing again this summer. On the last day before insurance expired I took it out for a nice cruise out to Chilliwack lake after work.  Then no time was wasted before tearing into it. Here is how I left it for the night:  The plan is to basically restore it to its former glory and beyond. Daily driver duty has taken it's toll. The front end is full of rock chips, engine is filthy and the lower half is covered in grime, everything has gotten worn out. But it stil drives great, I've managed to keep the interior in great shape and the 3800/F23 is still awesome. Even though it won't be on the road much, I intend on doing this work in stages so that I can still take it out for drives and meets and AutoX this summer in between being torn apart. Right now I've got most of the front end torn apart minus the suspension and will start by cleaning up that area. I'll get some more photos next time I'm out in the garage and try to keep this thread going again. |

While I won't be driving it nearly as much as last year, I do still plan on getting day permits and coming out to more events and such this year in between tear downs.
I still have to take off the P/S fender, radiator and lower rad support, frank tub and windshield cowl and then I will clean up and restore everything on the front end and get it back together before moving on to other parts of the car. I did discover that it has been in an accident before. Front right corner has some ripples in the sheet metal and split open a couple welds, and the front fascia has had some large rips repaired under its current paint. I'd never had the front hood or fascia off before and it seems to have been minor enough that it didn't take much to repair it so that it's not easily noticable. That could also be why the hood is not the original one. |

Got it just about stripped down as far as I am going at this stage. I'll take out the rad hoses and P/S rocker still and then clean up and reassembly begins.
Couple "before" pics:    Next stage will be a bit slower, I'm going to build some sort of parts tumbler or borrow one and then get/make a zinc plating setup to really clean up and protect all the hardware and little brackets and bits. Then I can start putting it back together. And I'll have to get some painting supplies before getting the body panels back on, I'd rather repair the body work before I put the panels back on, so I can get into all the tight spaces more easily. |

I dug out our tumbler from my parents' garage this weekend.
Loaded some random bolts I had just to test things with the grit I had and fired it up.   I'm not sure I trust it enough to let it go overnight yet, so I'll have it on only while I'm in the garage for now. I also discovered one of my wiper mount things has been broken and glued up to fix.  I don't want to scrape anything away just yet in case I can't fix it back up. If it's just the linkage bits that are broken I will replace the linkage, but won't take anything apart until I have another linkage set to replace it with. Does anyone have some wiper linkage they can sell me? |

I tried to start some zinc plating yesterday but hit a snag. Power supply was stuck at 45 volts, it's supposed to only be able to go up to 30. Found the problem I think:  Now to just figure out what that resistor was supposed to be... |
