August Wrap Up

Well, given the relatively short meeting, and my tardiness, I have relatively little to report this month...

Dan dropped me off fresh from having been working on my own Fiero, with me getting there around 6:15. When I got inside, the meeting had already began... Sort've. Well, sorry, mostly everyone was just sitting around chatting. I stole a seat beside Colby, who was also flanked by Patrick, Gary, Brian (And his passenger), Damien, Tim et al. For quite a while, the meeting consisted of Gary and I discussing things, Brian being a terrible influence on me and just general car-related shenanigans (Yes, I just wrote that). Eventually, Patrick realized he was, in fact, supposed to be chairing a meeting tonight, and had the intellect to pass out dinner draw tickets. Brian's lady picked... Brian.

After collecting his blatently ill-gotten money, we attempted what can only be described as an honest attempt at an official meeting. The first thing up for discussion was the Chilliwack run (Please head to the appropriate thread for details), in which it was suggested we hit up a local diner which has gotten rave reviews. Also, someone, please give Harrison a ride so we don't get lost as a group. Thanks.

From there, Brian took charge and discussed the two upcoming autocross events (The Corvette Club, and the Team Enduro) in which Colby was elected captain of their team, and they were also bestowed the title of The Prancing Ponies (Sorry Gary, it's already been decided). He then also brought up a fact which should shake the boots of any Fiero driver who enjoys abusing their organs via lateral G's: Lordco and Napa are phasing out Fiero CV shafts. There are no more driver's side shafts being made for the manual, and the passenger side shaft is no longer available anywhere. So either learn to maintain them, find a dealer in the States, or talk to that CV specialist nearby (I will nab his info tomorrow).

And with that, our quaint little event drew to a close. People shuffled outside, where everyone gathered around Brian's GT to plug stuff in to it and prod it. I stayed back and talked with Harrison about how silly diesel tuners, Top Gear hosts and Fiero owners all are. Patrick eventually interrupted our little chat to suggest Harrison and I enter the Team Enduro event with Steve, which would be great, as we'd have two Fieros which do not work at the moment, paired up with one that the owner is concerned will not work soon. Yeah, there is no way that could end badly...

Clynt almost had a Romeo's moment...

After the meeting was over Clynt gave me a ride back and just before the Port Mann Clynt said "hey Johnny there's NO OIL pressure on the gauge"
and then our man Clynt said "must be a faulty gauge"! A few minutes after that we heard a ticking sound so we drove for a just a bit longer and
the ticking noise got louder so Clynt pulled off onto an exit and we stopped and there was a pool of OIL on the ground. So Clynt checked the dip
stick and it READ empty. And then Clynt called for the tow truck! We were waiting for the tow truck and I was freezing as I was not dressed
for parking on the highway in the middle of the night. So the tow truck came and took us to the Canadian Tire at King George/138th/104th. We
have phoned Gina and she came with her sister for the rescue and drove us to RBS place where the van was. Clynt and I packed up the van with a
jack, tools and rags ready to go to the Canadian Tire in the morning to see if we could fix it.

This is Sunday morning and we are at Canadian with the jack and tools and there is Clynt to see what can be done. He found the problem was
the oil cooler line slipped loose and spilled all the oil OUT. Clynt just tightened the hose back in and it was fixed

Clynt has made his own funnel from the All Pontiac Show PROGRAM and duck tape for the spout!



To make matters worse, Clynt somewhere along the line from the Club to the Port Mann also lost his driver side SAIL Panel.

Sorry to hear about the car though, Clynt and Johnny. I suppose it's nice that nothing was damaged too severely, beyond the sail panel.

I also lost a SAIL panel a couple of months ago. Turned
out
the car was placed backwards on a flat bed tow truck (the
front of the car at the back end of the flat bed) and
when
the truck went down the highway at about 100 KPH, the
wind
pressure got under the back of the sail panel and tore it
off!   

PS: I always need a flatbed truck when I tow my car. The
front of my car has only about 1/2 inch of clearance if
the driver tries to use a normal tow truck (lifting from
the back)!

Hopefully nothing got scuffed up to badly when it ran dry, I've got my fingers crossed for you bud.

As for needing a flatbed, I'm going to start converting another trailer to a car hauler, given that my bud in Queensborough managed to lose my previous one (How does one misplace something that's 24' tip to tail?). I'll start after I get the Fiero pieced back together, and then members of the club can use it whenever they need to (And if you ask real nicely, I may offer tow services for free when needed). =)
