In Canada, I don't notice a whole lot of difference between different brands of gasoline. In my Fiero, I use regular gas. Every now and then, I put in midgrade gas and my Fiero tends to not like it all that much. I bit rough at idle. A lot of people swear by Chevron gasoline and I can't really tell the difference between that and, say Shell or Esso gasoline. Perhaps I just don't drive my Fiero hard enough.

Enter my trip to the US to Fiero Fest this year.   I went through 5 full tanks of gas on this trip. The 4th tank was at a Chevron station at Ellensberg on the way home. After filling and pulling on the highway, I did notice the engine appeared to run smoother and quieter. Power, I really couldn't tell as we were climbing the Snoqualmie pass. The car ran fine. But I did notice the Chevron gasoline in the US did make a slight difference on how the engine ran.

Some of you swear by Chevron gasoline and I can understand why now.

Yep its due to the Techron additive vs the other additives. In detonation sensitive motors I actually avoid Chevron because its frankly better gas, and the stuff like Mohawk and Husky with there extra Alcohol reduces detonation. However in a 2.8 Fiero, Chevron is the Best.

I live by Chevron gas. Chevron is the only gas station where the additive amount is the same for all grades; a stark contrast to something like Shell where the higher the grade you get, the higher the cleaner. You really get the better bang of your buck with Chevron.
