(hey, I looked at the forum title - and your cell phone gets used in the INTERIOR of your car and makes AUDIO potentially, so.... mleh... )
Anyhow, I'm sure you've all seen Capt's HTC Tytn. I have the exact same one here, in like new condition. All original accessories, stylus, box, dox, etc. Also comes with a desk "dock" and a spare battery. Locked to Rogers, but we all know you can get around that. Retail was about $700, common selling price was about $400. No longer required by myself, so I'm open to reasonable offers. (not mine - stolen image - but identical) Edited by Dr.Fiero |

I'm sure Dave will chime in with more, but...
It runs Windows Mobile 6. There are thousands of applications available, with some of the more important ones (to some) such as Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, a miniature Outlook, and of course... Solitaire. ;) You can hook your GPS up to it (a bluetooth receiver that is) and run a hacked TomTom on it. It has a full slide out QWERTY keyboard for texting (once you've done it this way, you'll NEVER go back to typing on a 3*4 keyboard!!). |

Well Several GPS speed programs that you can run with it, top speed, average speed, rough 0-60 timer. GPS programs like TomTom, I personally love TOmTom and because of the PDA version, you can download thousands of maps / phone lists, and voices of all your favorite stars.
The kickers is that it is Windows, so no fuddy with Apple software waiting to be released. There are sites dedicated to free programs for the Windows Mobil Phone. Just check out the Hermes section on the xda forum. Full on Touch Screen MP3 player. Can easily handly a 16gb Micro SD card on ebay for 89 bucks. (4gig are only 10 bucks.) Plays, movies, You Tube and other features. If you don't like the phone or OS, its a simple matter of going to XDA Forums, finding a version you like and 3 clicks later, the phones litterly becomes a new device. Programs all over the net, English to Spanish translators, all sorts of new stuff every day. Build in WiFi, for surfing the net, Bluetooth, and HSDA, (Faster than the 3G the Iphone has) Can be attached to a labtop and used as a wireless modem. So you can be out in the middle of nowhere and so long as you get cell reception, you can get your laptop online and surf. You can also surf right from the phone with its screen which is fairly big. Here are some pics. Sorry about the pic quality, but here it is closed up and a few shots of the charge/USB/audio output jack. Its a pretty slick little setup and we find ourselves leaving the laptop and Streets and Trips setup at home. The only limiting factor to this setup is the storage. I currently have a 6gig Micro SD Card in it now and there are larger cards, The cards just slide in the side so you can do it on the fly and they are hot swappable. The Audio manager interface is very much like the I-Pods. Sort by Genre and so on. We just bought Fiero Chick an HTC Touch, which is basically the exact same device hardware and software wise, it just does not have the slide out keyboard and weighs about 1/2 of the Tytn. It has the exact same screen though. I do have to say that gaming on the go with it kinda sucks if you want any decent 3D game support. The phone itself unfortunately costs more than some cheap laptops. When I got it, retail on it was around $700 however on a contract with my wireless Carrier it was only $250. If you know someone looking to buy either one, make sure they do there research on the exact model that there carrier is selling. I have found some sneaky company's up here, that sell gimped versions of the phone IE Bell Canada sells there Touch with the WiFi portion disabled so you have no choice but to use their INTERNET Data Packages. Fortunately we are with Rogers and they don't gimp their phones. I was even able to update all the software myself to enable a few functions like Video calling that were not enabled by default.
