It's tough to find speakers that fit Fieros.
Well, although the ones I bought are 6" round ones for my SS10, there is a full size lineup in the same series! Kicker now has a "KS" line that includes 4*6's (KS460) and 4*10's (KS4100). Reasonably priced (4*6's are about $100/pr CDN purchased locally - didn't ask on the 4*10's), and most importantly they sound GREAT with a really good frequency response range! Oh yeah, they CAN be found online for about 40-50$USD, but after you add in shipping, duty, etc - and not having them for a week or 6... it's just not worth the $5-10 you'd save. A stock deck would be a little hard pressed to drive them, but I think would still work cranked up a bit (the smaller ones are rated 30W RMS each). Hook up an external 4ch. amp and you'll be rockin'. |

I think that brings the grand total of companies producing odd-speakers to... Three? Alpine has 4X10 and 4X6 |

Is Kenwood still around? I swear I had a set by them too.
Big thing is the sound though. Most of the 'cheaper' ones just all sounded like crap (ie, the ones I pulled out!). These just sounded the best of the 4 pairs I listened to at the store (Visions BTW). |

I've had Kenwood and Pioneer, up until recently you were able to get the Pioneer at Best Buy and Future shop, however they recently dropped the line from there stores. I do have a set of both, I'll have to go and check to see what the ones are that are in my 87GT build car. I think they are Kenwood.

Yeah, I know the Pioneer's seem to have disappeared, and perhaps it was Kenwood I was thinking of, not Alpine... Kenwood would make more sense, as they typically put out a lot of products specifically useful to GM (1.5 DIN Headunits for example). =P |

Almost dead sure I saw Alpines at Visions as well. He had me almost sold on a pair of 6.5's in Alpine, then I heard the Kickers. But the thing I told him was that whatever ones I bought had to have a set of 4*6's available in the same line and power range (S10's use 4*6's in the dash).

I'm thinking of getting the Sony's later on, myself. I haven't anything against Kicker (In fact, I think they're a FANTASTIC company) but Sony has never disappointed me in the past, and I know they have Shallow subs as well, which I'll be needing in a little bit too.

I have the Kenwoods in my 857GT, 4x10's in the dash and 4x6's in the rear. When Lisa and I were down in Oregon we found a Speaker Liquidation place selling the Kenwood 4x10's same as in my project car, for $150 USD. Kinda blew me away with the price. I would have thought they would be getting cheaper when in fact good 4x10's seem to be getting more expensive by the day. I remember when you get find good used 4x10's for next to nothing. IE, when I bought my Pioneer 4x10's that were in my 85GT.
I have them sitting on my shelf now and will be saving them for my 88GT if I ever need them or into Lisa's car that as far as I know still has stock original paper 4x10's in it. |
