The only thing I can think to add about the helmets is that you should make sure test fit it before you buy.

I've never seen anyone check the helmets so even if there are rules for them they may not be enforced.

Do you think they'd notice if I wore my hockey helmet?

I wore it while snowboarding a couple winters ago and got some funny looks!

I was going to say something about the size of BC Place Stadium, but I won't bother now.
Just wait, you're going to be putting on a helmet next race, getting ready for your next run and WHAM, going to get a fist full of karma. LOL

Kidding, I'm a pacifist.

If I see you packing a lacrosse stick at the next meeting, I'll not be turning my back on you.

OK, they may notice something like that!  I'm really not sure what they'd think about it.

VCMC & UBC when they do tech check, check the helmet to ensure the rating is correct

Brian, can you remind us again what the ratings are supposed to be? (Or where can we find them?)

I found it: The 2010 SCCA Solo Rulebook (Look in section 4.3.1)

Quote 4.3.1 Helmets

Helmets meeting the following standards must be worn while on
course:

All helmets meeting the current or two immediately preceding Snell
Foundation standards (SA2005, SA2000, SA95, M2010, M2005,
M2000, M95, K2005, K98), SFI standards 31.1, 41.1, 31.1A, 31.2A,
41.1A, 41.2A or British spec BS6658-85 type A/FR are acceptable.

Formula Junior drivers must use helmets meeting the above, SFI 24.1
(Youth Helmets), Snell CMR2007 (Children’s Motorsports Restricted),
or Snell CMS2007 (Children’s Motorsports Standard) specifications.

For maximum protection, helmets must fit securely and should provide
adequate peripheral vision. The chin strap must be securely fastened.
Loaner helmets should be available to vehicle occupants not having
their own.

Thanks Colby. This may or may not be a dumb question, but are these necessarily the rules that the local clubs use and (supposedly) enforce? In other words, are the local autocross/car clubs required to follow these rules?

Will a Full-face Motorbike helmet be legal?

I don't know about required... Brian would be able to answer this question a bit better. I do know PCA doesn't follow them so much, they're much more casual about it all. I think UBC and VCMC follow them more closely, I know they at least do the classing of the cars.

Minimal is a M class helmet (motorcycle) for auto cross, PCA is unique, but all the other clubs enforce.  The choice is whether you will do a track day, if so you need then the SA2000 or SA2005 helmet which you can buy locally at Drivers Edge or PDM

On the back or inside you should have M2010, M2005,
M2000, or M95, if so you are good

I will make sure. Would they get mad if I spray painted the front a little (Not covering any stickers)?

You have seen all the helmets out there...can do whatever you want, just ensure the labels are viewable.

If you plan to go, you need to email and advise, this is not like the PCA, they have a cap at 50 people.
