It's still nearly two months away, but I just noticed this on their forum:

I'm pleased to announce our first autocross event of 2011 for Saturday May 28th! (The weekend after May long weekend)

We are making a few improvements to the event, the first being that we will no longer be doing registration and payment onsite. From now on, this must all be done online via Karelo, just like UBC club events. This will eliminate the clumsy morning registration.

This event is capped at 50 drivers. Pre-registration via Karelo is mandatory. Cost is $40 per driver. (HST is included in price) There will be absolutely no refunds. We will only issue a credit for future autocross events if you cancel within 24 hours or more in advance. If you "no show" for the event, we will not refund or credit you. If you are not sure you can attend, please do not pre-register. Pre-registration on Karelo is the only way to sign up for this event. Those showing up with cash on the morning of the event will be turned away.

REGISTRATION LINK HERE: http://www.karelo.com/register.php?BID= ... 10#Ev10536

Please note: You do not need to be a Porsche Club member or own a Porsche to participate. We welcome everyone to join us! Friends and family are welcome to come and spectate as well: there is no need to sign-up if you just want to watch, however EVERYONE that is on-site MUST sign the liability waivers.

There is absolutely ZERO TOLERANCE for any burnouts, reckless driving, or loud stereos on Ford Road at any time. Anyone caught breaking this rule will be immediately, and permanently, banned from all 3 local autocross clubs without warning.

Please obey the stop signs abeam the runway, and wait for any aircraft that are taking off or landing before resuming.

Gates will be open by 8:00am. Please don't arrive too early as a line will form on Ford Road, however you must be onsite and checked-in by 9:00am, or you will not run. The last run will be finished by 4:30pm. If you drive, you must work. If you cannot work, or need to leave early early, it must be prearranged with us, or else you will not be welcome back.

Free instruction and a limited amount of loaner helmets are available for novice drivers! Drivers of all skill levels are encouraged to come out!

You are welcome to bring your own helmet as long as it is a 2000 or newer model M or SA helmet.

Please make sure your vehicle is free of all loose objects, including your trunk compartment, and that your battery is firmly bolted down in place. Any vehicles found to be mechanically unsafe will not be allowed to run, and no refund will be given.

Please contact Rich Sandor at autocross@pca-cwr.org, or post here, if you have any questions!

I keep holding off signing up because of the weather. Yeah yeah, I'm a wimp. I've really been looking forward to getting on the track again this year, but I want to be on a dry track. Decisions, decisions...

Are you absolutely sure about that? Snow was forecast for parts of the Okanagan today.  Seriously!

Will they take people who just show up if there's still room?

UGH. That's weak. I blew all I can afford on car parts, and I don't like to spend more on credit than what I actually have available to pay off...

Damn Porsche Club. lol

I don't see the connection between that and wanting to pay the morning of the autocross.  It's going to cost you X number of dollars no matter what.

Actually, I like this change in their registration rules.  I believe this was done to prevent a repeat of last year where about 30 people turned up for an autocross at the last moment, and there were WAY too many people on the track that day (which of course resulted in very few runs for everyone).

Here's what I posted on the Porsche Club's forum after that particular event. No, I'm not taking credit for the change in their registration rules.  I heard from good authority that many other people had complained behind the scenes about this same thing to the powers that be.

Quote Rich, I have a question as a newb. :

I came out to the August autocross as an observer as I was dog-sitting my girlfriend's husky for a month (which I brought to the track that day) and therefore couldn't actually participate. There were about 40 cars and everyone got in eight runs apiece.

This time around I came to the track (minus the dog!) and was able to participate. There were four of us from the Fiero club running our cars and we all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. However, the only disappointment from a participant's point of view was that we only got to run a total of five times apiece because there were so many more entrants at this particular event. What was there, at least 70 cars?

I know you're caught in somewhat of an awkward position, but at what point would you consider turning away people who decide at the last moment to come out? Again, from a participant's perspective, it's not nearly as much fun when the number of runs are severely limited due to the large number of entrants. It also makes for a lot more waiting around between runs.

Please don't interpret this as a complaint. I'm just genuinely interested how you (as the organizer of the event) plan to keep everyone happy as the popularity of this event continues to grow. Thanks.

Because I've already blown what I allocated to my credit on car parts. I have money left on debit, but until my credit bill comes, I haven't any means of paying online.
