Time to talk about the Hell's Gate run.  It's on Saturday May 7th.  We will be meeting at Ricky's at 8:00 AM.  The total distance is 347 Km.

We'll be taking the Freeway up in the morning and on the way back we'll leave the Freeway at Hope and take the Lougheed to the Mission bridge then Freeway back to town.

This part of the Lougheed is very nice.  Usually clear and open road most of the way.

The cost for admission is $20 and they open at 10:00AM.

Since I can't be there, it would be ideal if someone could step up and do point.  Don't forget your radios if you have them.  Extra batteries is always good.

Here's a map:

AND....with a little bit of research, somebody should consider moving the run to Sunday because....

Quote Sunday, May 8th
– 20th annual Canyon Appreciation Day. Tram rides are absolutely FREE. Seasons Passes are available for $6.00. Entertainment and fun for the whole family. The exclusive “Super Pass” available this day only. 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.

If the run is sometime AFTER May 8, I would suggest somebody head up on May 8 and pick up a Super Pass and have the club pay for it. That would allow the entire club to ride the tram for free for the entire season.

I LOVE THIS RUN. I kinda suck at organisation though... I could try though.

As far as trying to be there on cheap Sunday.  We tried that with the go-carts remember?  The place was real busy.

It's only $20 bucks and no one has to actually go on the tram.  If money is tight, just hang out till people are ready to head back.

I have no updates.  The original post is still current.  I'm having trouble uploading the map.  Maybe I'll send it to Dave and get him to do it.

Cheers,

The Dawg

Those R-Comps would make the drive a hell of a lot more fun though.

David's right, however, we need to make a decision now. Saturday will cost money, Sunday will be busy as hell and also Mother's Day.

Personally, I'd vote for Saturday.

I'll vote to keep it Saturday as well. Less people will make it much
more enjoyable and there should be less other cars on the road. if
Sunday is free, more people will drive up, clogging up the roads

Sorry folks, I can't make it this weekend. I have a graduation (not mine) to attend and have relatives from overseas visiting.   I hope the weather is great for a fun drive.

I need to confirm, but I think I can make it on the 7th. Since driving to Ricky's would kind of be in the wrong direction for me, would you be able to plan a stop somewhere closer to Abbotsford? I live close to the Whatcom road exit.

It probably won't take the group 15 minutes to reach you once they get rolling.  Why don't we simply state a departure time of 8:30AM.  Now you can park close enough to the Freeway to see everyone go by about 15 minutes later.

Do you have a GRS radio?  I think we were all on channel 20 last time so lets use that channel again.  There's always cel phones too.

If the group passes Whatcom road exit and no Colby then give him a shout on the radio or cel phone.

Cheers,

The Dawg
