I'm so confused!

I'm looking at 1984 models of Fieros. There are only three models... Coupe,
Sport Coupe and SE.

Which is the one that has the "blunt" nose the SE?, or is that an option?

I'm so confused!

according to the ad, both pictures were of 84s....

I'm confused.

Were they just wrong? Are are any 84's with this blunt nose? I've seen pics
of other supposed 84s that had that nose...

The only 84 to have the GT nose was the 84 Indy. The Indy was an SE, but not all SE's were Indy's. That nose was then used on the 85GT and later on all the V6 cars in 86 and 87. 88 used that nose on GT's only. Side note you can put that nose onto ANY Fiero. As for the most part all Fiero body panels could be interchanged.

The only 1984 model of the Fiero with the "Aero Nose" would be the Indy Pace car replica. Otherwise, one could have bolted on one from the 1985 and forward GT.

The 1984 Indy pace car would have a limited edition interior also and is probably worth a bit more than the other 1984 Fieros.   If one had an Indy pacecar replica, he (or she) would not have painted it another colour.   No other 4-cyl Fiero came out of the factory with the Aero nose.

Also, 1984 Fieros were only available in Red, Black or White. Silver was not available.

Given there are no SE or GT markings on the sail panels of the first car, and if the sail panels are the originals that came with the car, then the nose would have been retrofited on and likely the car repainted.

If the first one is, in fact a 1984 car, then there is likely some body work done on it. Check for possible accidents if you are planning on buying it.

You can check the year by the serial number.

For 1984,
The 4th position of the serial number will be an "A"
The 10th position will be a "E".

Thanks a lot, I was very confused... but that makes sense. So I get it that the
Indy's were technically SE's but not all SE's were indy's. What makes a car an
SE? I've been looking at two in particular. Both have VINs that start with
1g2am -- makes them Sport Coupe.

Now... what is the difference between the Sport Coupe and the SE?

More confusion!

Thanks for your help.

The difference between the Sport Coupe (base model) and the SE are generally options. Also, the base model, I believe, had a transmission geared for economy. The SE had slightly more aggressive gearing, 14" wheels instead of the 13" steelies, 3 spoke steering wheel and a few other options.
