If you want to skip the write up and just look at the pics, they
are HERE, otherwise, read on and come back and look at the pics when you are done. Thanks to Jeff from Gresham, I bought his 88 Front rotors (and rear, but don't have them yet) I took them down and got them turned yesterday and proceeded to install them today. It was supposed to be a 30 min job, to pop off my wheels, pop off the calipers, slide off the old rotors and drop the new ones on. Well my car said "NO WAY IN HELL" The rotors would not budge, I tapped them with a hammer and they would not move, I heated them and still would not move, I had to get a 12 ton, (24,000lb) hydraulic puller attached to the old rotors and pinned against the front of the 88 wheel bearing, then after heating again and giving it a few good WHACKS, they came off with a BANG. I actually broke one of the stock rotors with the puller, but it did come off and is trash, as it was really warped. I got the new rotors installed, took it for a spin and finally back to nice smooth stops. I'll find out later today how it does from 110mph panic stops, and report back. However so far so good. I did a few 50mph stops going down the steepest hill I could find and it worked great. So Huge Thank You to Jeff. Well Thanks for Reading this far http://www.captfiero.com/slottedbrakes |

Glad you got them off without lighting the brakelines on fire.
They do look sweet. |
