Not so. I'm sorry you feel that way and still have nothing inside of you for all the people you have insulted. I won't be responding to any more of your negativity. Good luck Patrick.

Ok Patrick, I am at work...I will take this moment for us to share as a club why we are sharing our views and hope we can learn and never encoubter this again...it has to stop and I know as friends and a club, we will support and ensure we represent in mature fashion...

My first post here may not be the most popular, but I feel what I have to say still needs to be said. Bb: First line you identify that you may upset people

I was a member of the The Smokin' Tomatoes team yesterday. I don't speak for the team, but I wouldn't be surprised if they echoed my sentiments. (I was the novice on the team with three events under my belt from 2010, but this was my 6th autocross event this year.)

Bb: Team refererence...you contridict saying you speak for yourself then say you'll be supirsed if they echoed your setiments...so drag us with you pretty much...your assuming we agree when we all knew what to expect, why the suprise?

I looked forward to this "team" concept. It was a great way for my buds and I to try something a little different in regards to autocross. (We're all affiliated with West Coast Fieros of BC, although yes, we had a Porsche 914/6 on our team.) We embraced the team concept and had some fun with team T-shirts and even team logos on our car doors. We made the most of the situation, we'll have some good memories. My thanks to the volunteers who helped to put on the event.

Bb: Why encourage people to visit our site when your about to piss them all off, then have them read the negative comments on our forum???...WTF, and you wonder why we are upset?...this was the first thing the President of UBC did, she went to our site and I posted above her comments...

However...

84 participants!  Bb: So???...How many times in past meetings have I not identified the differences with all the clubs and how they manage their event!!!...and they all were posted in advance with all the teams, you could have counted then instead of questioning after the fact.

Getting only two practice runs each in the morning, and one official run each in the afternoon was VERY disappointing. Bb: THAT BECAUSE IT'S AN ENDURO!!!...did you not ready 2010 posts to gain an idea of the event format?...there is this event and VCMC Challenge with the two day event...same, your lucky to get 4 runs all day, the Nationals the same...again this is the competitive clubs, so make your runs counts

Not only was actual seat time sorely lacking with that many participants, but it made for a heck of a lot of waiting around between runs. Plus it required everyone to bake out in the hot sun for hours chasing cones. The ratio of seat time to bake time was awfully lopsided! Bb: Tough...deal with it with seat time...suggestions have been setn via a PM to consider water coolers, rotate workers, etc...again could have been PM'd...I did already and they will not it for 2012

Most (all?) other local clubs limit the number of participants at their autocross events to 50. This to me makes a whole lot of sense. It gives everyone a decent amount of seat time, and it drastically cuts down on all the waiting around between runs. Makes for a much more enjoyable day. Bb: Again who cares...each club runs their own event the way they want...and AGAIN we have discussed this many times in the past

So, I'm sorry to rain on the parade (although we probably could use some rain at this point), but these are simply observations from my perspective.

I welcome your feedback to my comments.

Bb: There was no reason to come into their home and tell them how they should run their event, one which has been active for many years and a format that won't change, so you made yourself look bad as well as the club...makes me look like I am not providing the club the correct information, so yes this pissed me off!

You gained your feedback, even being called an old timer...maybe just share with the team instead of challenging the world...not too many people have patience for actions like this Patrick...please adjust and be part of the every changing world, times are different and debates many do not like to engage.

Brian, you're making this rather difficult for me. On one hand you're discouraging debate (or even posting again), yet you then go post all that you just did.

I'll simply re-post what I stated yesterday. It basically sums up what needs to be said.

Originally posted by Patrick Patrick wrote:

I posted in a thread, 2011 Team Enduro - Results and Feedback that specifically asked for... feedback. I therefore posted feedback. I made it clear right off the bat that I was not speaking for anyone but myself, and I was entirely respectful and polite with what I posted in that thread.

In retrospect, perhaps it wasn't the wisest thing for me to post a link there to our club's site here. Not because there was necessarily anything to hide, but because guys shooting the breeze in our own forum could easily be misinterpreted as something more than it really was... just guys shooting the breeze.

Brian, as I said in my PM to you, we need to talk about this.

Patrick....we have all been here before with you....Well meaning people trying to suggest a better way.  In this case, club members you know well trying to give you good advice.  Why is it so hard for you to accept?

I myself am trying to be friendly by sending this message.  But you do seem to take these suggestions as some form of attack that needs negative attention.

Be aware that we all have better things to do with our lives than deal with this sort of thing regularly.  But in your case, we are choosing to take the time to make these suggestions.  Please keep this in mind.

It would be so much easier to just hit the kill button.  But I for one see things in you I really like.  It's just a shame that your social methods are so awkward.

Thank your lucky stars that Dave runs this forum.  For the sake of the group, I would just be deleting your negative posts as fast as you write them.

Look guys, if I'm that much of a problem around here, just delete my club membership. Seriously.

ok. great chat. lets take this to a face to face sometime.

Patrick, perhaps understood, i know you to be a great guy with only the best intentions.

this is starting to move just past the point of constructive and i can sense a downhill slide coming that is not in anybody's best interest.

everybody will bring their strengths and weaknesses into the group and we all need to learn to lean on each others strengths and move as a group for group related things.

i feel odd posting this as i am not a member but really want this to be a strong club. everybody i have met has been awesome!

Gary

Gary, you are considered a valid member of this club...

Patrick, as I PM'd you, my post was for all to understand why many of us are upset, just please change and we all need to step back before we hit send (I am one of the big instigators I know this), but as I have been told that I can be very direct, yes and no...my team hear know's I will support them 150%, but when issues arrise one too many times it has to be addressed...

Patrick, you bring SO MUCH to this club, please listen to what we are suggesting and see how we can adjust, too much energy is taken from this...and even though you thought your intent was positive, as it was noted, be on the receiving end and you tell us if you would not react, UBC actually handled this very well but making a direct phone call to me, they had no intent to let this carry on as a discussion...not the place for it on their forums.

Cheers...Brian

Patrick if it feels like you are being ganged up on. You are, but look at most of the people posting, they are all people that call you a friend and are trying to help you.  I have spoke to you about it in the past as have other people.  In person I and many other people feel you are a great guy.  However and you even accused me of this, being a totally different person on the internet as I am in person.  I hope that you don't still see me that way.  As I try to be a nice guy and speak in a way that does not rub people the wrong way.  I have often re-written page long posts just so that I could get my point across without offending people.

If a UBC guy came in here and posted that he thought we did a poor job of running a club event, I'd personally take great offense to it and tell him he was no longer welcome if he did not like the way it was ran.  Now if he offered advice on how to improve it, without posting a negative comment.  I would probably be more than happy to accept his recommendation and take note of it.

I have received a few personal calls and emails regarding this matter as well.  I feel it is now closed.  I am going to lock the thread now.  If a person still wishes to discuss this matter further with Patrick or any of the other people in this thread, you can PM them.

Patty go have a beer and relax, good night all.
