There are two clips that connect together on the iginition coil...the heat makes the plastic brittle |

Added note, when this connector starts to come loose, you will notice the tach doing funky things, bouncing around. When it actually does pop off you will notice the tach drop to Zero long before the engines rpms drop to zero and you come rolling to a stop. In the past, I have just used a simple Zip Tie to make sure it stays in place. I have red zip ties that match the engine bay perfectly.

Or in my case, I was stepping on it, I redlined and died thinking I blew the engine or something...scared the sh*t out of me...lol.

This happened when we had the tech day at Blair's which you were there at the time...and when I called in to Blair and described what happened they could not figure out why my engine raced up like it did...so now we all know:).

Well it might be time to do a full distributor rebuild. New module and pickup coil. If one is on the way out, the other is not usually far behind.

well......the ignition module was nt the problem. as dave said might have to rebuild it. Checked with lordco for a complete remanufactured distributor, club price was quoted over phone at $180.00. Not bad, concidering you get new cap, rotor, p/u coil, ignition module, bushing/bearings, gear and a 12 month warrantee. just might go the easy way out. |
