Leaky plug wires were the cause of my
red hot manifold an a few Vacuum leaks
witch were found an fixed
Timing was easy to check an set.
It was real hard to find an diagnose
the multiple problems.was a fluke i found the last one
my whole fire wall ELE harness was lit up.the
ground shielding an wires were trace arcing
to my 3 rear banks of cylinders DAM!-(plug wires)
The (plug wires)were touching the main harness to the ECM.
it was hard to see at first, they are so so tiny-the arcing it self.but there were a few big ones that were obvious.i was setting in the trunk
playing with the timing-up an down, just to see what happens at night
i was working with a flash light !!,an when i turned the flash
light out,ENG running i notice the FWD bank had a light glow.
looked at the rears an they were cherry red at idle? Woo!
pitch black out easy to see to! best time to check for this,Night time.
1" from my nose over the intake i notice what i think is a arc from a bad plug wire, did i mention! its pitch black out ?except for the glow-LOL The entire 3 rear banks of plug wires were arc tracing-You have to look close
to see it @ first,it was tracing all the way from the cap to the ground shield on the main ECM harness, an then both ways L/R down the harness an disappeared in the car? thats one tough ECM,thats y my 3 rears banks ran red hot eh! no spark an fuel was burning in the manifolds,i could smell it coming out the exhaust,an it even smelt stronger after i took the cat out,All so! the O2/ECM was leaning out what it thought? was a rich mix, do to no spark an unburnt fuel to make it even worse,so hope i got this time,, an i can just go for a spin on a sunny day,all so came up with a way to check for leaky wires at night
a small florsent light bulb, black light works best,it will glow if you have any leeks. tryed it works great! i grounded one end with a pice of wire,an just ran the tube over my plug wires while ENG is running
it light rite up at the real big leaky spots an will just glow a little if not to bad,so new plugs an wires an looking FWD to going for a cruz soon.
