My radio has just recently gone dead (no power). After chatting with members at the last club meet, i checked today for any loose power connections. Nothing behind the radio. Checked all fuses - A OK! Then I suddenly got all power back after disconnecting and re-connectiong the battery??? Put all back together, working fine. Drove back to my parking space while happly listening to Satellite Jazz Radio. Parked and turned off the car. Decided to turn ignition on again, guess what - radio is dead again. Also, when the faceplate is off the red security light not flashing??? Was before, whether ignition on or off. Is it possible that I could have a problem in my ignition key switch in the steering column? Has anyone had this problem and got a solution? I would appreciate any feedback/help. Thanks - FieroZen A.K.A (Nigel) |

It could be a short within the radio it self. But that doesn't sound good, driving without tunes and such.

If it comes back after you completely disconnect the power and then dies again after a while. It really sounds like a problem within the radio itself. I would still 2nd what Marcel says, check for grounds and other connections to make sure that nothing is intermittent. If you can't find any wiring issues, you might try installing another stereo for a short time and seeing if the problem comes back.
I am assuming that you used an adapter harness to install the stereo? If you did, then I would go out and pick up a 2nd harness and wire up a 2nd deck, that way when you want to swap back and fourth you wont have to cut or splice the connections again. I might even have a stock deck here that you could plug in and try for a couple days and see how that works. |
