Hi all,
I have just purchased an 86 Fiero which has had a LOT of work done to it. This is the info I received with it. Work done: New plugs and sensors Resonator Flow master muffler Tranny oil pan new rings rear main large injectors accel coil MSG ignition comp cam K&N cold air intake engine mounts new battery new rotors and brakes calipers rebuilt adjustable coil-overs (2" lower) power power mirrors Aftermarket deck It runs well and has the performance, idle and sound of a nicely modified engine, lopey idle, crisp exhaust note, and noticeable "cammed engine" performance. It's a 'bit' extreme in regards to suspension changes as it has been lowered and getting in and out is a treat.. It's lucky I live in Courtenay where we do not get much snow, (and slush), but contorting this 72 yr old 6 foot 1 inch frame getting in and out is a trip. Would anyone here know the guy that did the upgrades? From the Vehicle history it has been in: MAPLE RIDGE (11/13/2000), ABBOTSFORD (07/05/2008),and DUNCAN 11/10/2012, before being sold to the young guy in Nanimo in July 2013. I got it in Dec. I am really enjoying it, it is a HOOT to drive. Hope to talk with you all soon. |

I saw that fiero for sale on the island.. i planned on checkin it out but didnt make it out there in time ahah So since then i just bought one. There is a meet coming up over here i might throw a permit on mine and show up. My fiero has had some work done to it as well but it also needs some work... planning on a paint job etc and new clutch. I would want to do a 3800 swap but sounds like allot of work?! |

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I hope someone does. Knowing more about the mods sure would help. @Artic-1 Yes it is in quite good condition and seems to be well cared for. It does need some work but it seems minor. Need to get a proper oil cap, oil pressure shows max, temp sensor sets off "Service Engine" light if I run with a thermostat, temps look ok on guage and 'feel' about right. Oh ya, there is no spare, jack or lug wrench. It has an annoying click coming from the passenger door when I hit a bump, (Which I understand can be fixed by using a Ford lock post), the rear deck lock is broken, small stuff. |

Ya i heard its common for the oil pressure guage to read
max.. Mine does too and my service engine light comes on once in awhile not sure why yet but this spring and summer ill be going through the car and figuring it all out. Also since your new with the Fiero always make sure if you take it somewhere to be worked on make sure to watch where they are putting the lifts under the car.. your radiator lines run under the car on either side where lift points are close to. |

Rear deck lock is super easy to fix; you can order
replacements on-line. If you want all the locks to match though, the door locks are quite a bit more annoying to change. |

I'm curious, where is the MAT sensor now located with the addition of a K&N cold air intake? (It's worthwhile noting that the way K&N filters are normally installed, they actually supply warm air from inside the engine bay as opposed to the stock system which is a true "cold air" intake.)
I hope you're not running without a thermostat... especially this time of year. Your engine will never warm up properly, leading to excessive wear and terrible gas mileage. You need to determine what your trouble codes are and deal with them. Edited by Patrick |
