I originally posted the following in one of the autocross threads Here regarding possibly changing the scheduled dates for two upcoming club events. However, I realized afterwards that the only people who would see that thread might be club members who were involved with autocross. My posts were for everyone in the club to see (and hopefully comment on), so I thought I should start a new thread.
Feedback is welcome and encouraged, pro or con.

Personally, I'm not worried about the conflicts too much because there are other autocrosses planned for the other day of same weekend (with the exception of the 3 day event, but you just do the drive up to Whistler on the first day). Although two of them are UBC events which require membership and one of those is a "Team Enduro" and I'm not too sure if that means you can just show up or if you need to have a team formed beforehand.

Just adding my 2 cents. In times of past, we would not normally change any dates posted for a single member. However in this case, its the "Most Active" members that are having the conflicts. I can see moving the Chilliwack run, however the 3 day run, can't really be changed. On the flip side of the same coin in relation to the whistler run. Damian has expresses some serious feelings towards the lack of commitment from people (myself included) planning to attend the run. Its a big deal and needs to get cemented into the ground. Even if just a few people are going. So the 3 day even end up being a non issue. I do however hear some twigs breaking in the forest in regards to a new Fiero entering the club which may change things a bit.

Those twigs are branches now...:) Yes, Michelle and I just put money down on Ron's beautiful car. We might even make it to Arlington if the Parents come through with a mini loan.
Wait till you guys see it. Being the events guy, I see no problem with moving dates as long as there are no problems with things like bookings. The Chilliwack run is actually a ride to the military museum. Harrison knows the details better than I. Harrison, can we move that date or is it going to be a pain?? The Dawg |

And let's be clear here Dave, (which yes, you did allude to it), it's not for "a single member". I am just one of about a half-dozen members of this club who have gotten involved with autocross. It's a great way to make fun use of our Fieros. The reason why I'd like to see the club dates get changed, is not simply so that I can attend, or so the other half-dozen members can attend... it's so the club events will have enough members attending to make them viable. Let's be honest, if a half-dozen active members are involved in some other activity on the same day as a club event, will there be enough club members attending the club event to make it a go? Could be doubtful.
I suppose the 3-day run could be changed IF it became a regular 1-day run (just) to Whistler due to lack of club member commitment to the camping part of the trip. I'm not trying to change things around for my benefit. Seriously. I'm just making suggestions to try and benefit the club in the long run. I'd like to hear what other club members have to say. However, if discussions about this cause friction like some other discussions we've had previously, we can drop the topic at any time. I've expressed myself, I'm done.

Patrick I am not trying to argue with you and have basically said, if things can be coordinated, then yes we should move them around. However we can't coordinate what we don't know, and right now, we don't' know for sure that at the very least the 3 day event will even happen. If we do the big Duffy lake run, then the Whister Run is going to happen simply because we will be there. If we want to have a 2nd run to Whister GREAT. If the Duffy is killed, then yes a 2nd Date for a Whister only run can be accommodated. In short we will do everything we can to make sure that the most people can attend the most events. Now I am stepping out of this entire discussion as it is between the group, the organizers of the events,. and the auto crossers. |

Well, unless the Duffy/Whistler run gets cancelled or moved, I'm in for it regardless of autocross. Now, obviously I would stand to benefit from a date change (Getting to have my cake and eat it to), but I don't think we'll be losing half our club if camping is on the same day/weekend as autocross. The last two years in a row, the people that stayed and camped didn't contain a single person involved with autocross, so, attendance wont be affected, so far as I can see... |

With this weekend and the weather forecast for MORE RAIN...I will be a dedicated Canucks and cheer our team on Saturday, I'll have a few cold ones and a real nice BBQ going. If anyone who may not be going and interested, let me know...Game on at our place |

Hell, I've been camping with Stan Smyl, his kid and Dan Cloutier. Maybe I could get one of them into bringing Linden out some time.

I ended up playing Hockey with his kid, and we started hanging out, and we'd both get in to trouble. I got to know Stan as a result of him constantly bailing us both out with the Whistler authorites. |

Sorry it took so long for me to chime in. Moving the chilliwak run
shouldn't be an issue, it's still a couple months away. I'll talk to my dad and make sure it will still work out. Would the 20th be alright? The week after the august meeting. |
