Can anyone give me the rundown on what needs to be done to bring a car over from alberta?  All i can figure so far is, get temp insurance with ICBC before i leave (to get it from the boarder to my home), but how do i get insurance for a car i dont already have the title too?, and get temp insurance in alberta to cover me from there to the boarder.  Are there any documents ill need when crossing over?

I JUST went through this situation. Long story short is, the person you bought the vehicle off of should have given you transfer papers. If they didn't, you're pretty much boned, as there is literally NO way to do it. If they like you, they might just tell you to put in their stuff on transfer papers and fake their signiture. But in the mean time, it's technically still "their" vehicle.

No personal experience here, but this is how I figure it goes....

Either A. You buy a BC plated trailer. B. Rent a BC plated trailer and then trailer it home. OR...

Because you're not going through any border crossings, you don't really need to worry about the "crossing over" lol

If you buy an AB car, get the old reggy, and put a 1 or 2 day permit on it. Then drive from AB to BC.

Once in BC take reggy to ICBC and they'll print you up yet another permit. Then you take the car for a provincial inspection. If you pass, take it back to ICBC and insure+pay taxes on the thing. If you don't pass you go home fix EVERYTHING they say. Get another permit. And try again.

There is info about this on the ICBC website somewhere as I remember reading this when I moved to BC.

No luck finding a moded Fiero in BC?
I wanna go fast.

Not sure about AB but SK doesn't have transfer papers. Just reggies. So I'm not sure about your situation Romeo.. Did you get screwed on a AB to BC deal? Or just local BC sale?

Ontario to BC. It doesn't matter where you bought the truck, according to ICBC. The fact that you are a BC resident means taking care of the transfer of title is your problem.

Just grab a transfer paper before you go. They're free at any Autoplan/ICBC centre.

Why not have a car carrier company bring it to Vancouver

for about $500 u can have the car transportred fom Calgary

of about $600 from Edmonton.

That way you dont have the hassle of trailers, towing, stress etc

Just make sure you have the papers, registration, and bill of sale.

and anything the prevous owner will give you.
