I've dropped in from time to time for the past year or so and have been in love with the Fiero since 1991. Unfortunatley I bought a 1st gen Miata that year. I've located an 87 GT about 200,000 km on clock. I'd like to purchase ASAP but a couple of things need to be answered. When I tried to start it, the battery was flat and had to be jumped... Are there any issues with electrics? Although the interior is "PRISTINE" the rubber pads on Brake & Clutch Pedals" are worn off from excessive use, I know 200,000km... The car pulls well in 1st to third but is extremely fast and I can't properly test drive on city streets. Also the Brakes seem to be upgraded (Brembo Uni-blocks). This car is extremely clean and has obviously garage stored since birth. There are some stress cracks in the front fascia paint where it has had contact with concrete tire stops but the plastic is undamaged so some paint should take care of that. What would be a fair offer for this 87? |

I've bought it $4500.00 but can't pick it up until March 1st as I'm headed to Zihuatenejo until then. Probably better to leave it in the dealers garage instead of at the airport. By the looks of it my luggage wouldn't fit anyway I took it for a long drive today and ID'd some needed repairs, the driver side headlight doesn't open (motor runs but the lift assy is a bit hinky) I assume that these can be bought at TFS also the lame mechanics at the dealer tore off the weatherstrip for the battery deck lid while jumpstarting it. The battery is a 2002 and as the car has been stored since August is toast. Some of you folk must know this car as I found an "All Pontiac Show" Gold medal on the dash. The dealer said that when the former owner traded it in for a truck he was almost in tears (had it for about 10 years). The car is maroon with silver trim and a different kind of intake scoop than shown in photos I've seen. It has a light saddle cloth interior. 2.8 / 5sp that look factory fresh, Sunroof but no storage bag The only wear is on the steering wheel (kind of looks melted on top), the writing for the switches is starting to disappear and a small carpet burn-melt in the engine bay storage area. I had it up to 130 this afternoon but didn't want a ticket too soon I'm totally impressed with the Getrag's tight shift linkage. The car did seem to run a little warm afterwards about 230f I checked to make sure the fan was working and the coolant tubes weren't squashed by an unwitting mechanic. All good! The brakes aren't Brembo's but they aren't stock either and they haul it down quickly and perfectly straight. Also the correct mileage is 150,000 + not 200,000. I hope you guy's don't think I paid too much but this car is mostly done and I really didn't want a project. So live and learn. I'm looking forward to meeting many of you in March at Ricky's. Sounds like a fun group of folks and I love road trips. I have some great Idea's as I drive truck professionally to the Okanogan and Van Isle extensively. Now you understand why I had to have a car like this |
