Today, not only did I get to drive myself to the Fiero club, I knew I had the added honour of being the member with the largest motor in attendence before I even showed up, possessing three Iron Dukes worth of displacement. My hubris would be punished immediately. Entering the lot, I was greeted by the uninspirational sight of a single Fiero. Harrison was also there, but like me, had neglected to bring the titular vehicle along. Things would stay like this for a solid half hour before Maureen showed up, followed soon after by newcomer Dan, and then on to two more Fieros and a Blazer containing one Lisa and one Arianna. Given the minimal attendence, the meeting was likewise kept as spartan as possible to leave it open for socialization. When the official parts began, it was led with the dinner draw. Then a couple of door prizes were picked up. I managed to win the 50/50 draw, which is good, because the $3 winnings helped pay off the $4 on tickets I invested in it. Harrison proceded to laugh at my useless pile of tickets on the table, mostly due to the fact he's a big, stupid jerk face. =D Following that debacle. Damien then hopped up and brought us to our pair of discussions. Starting with the Santa Fox food drive, the consensus in the room seemed to indicate a desire to do it again this year. Moving on from there, what began as a discussion on the Harrison (Jerk face) run, immediately made way to a discussion on how to maintain communication between organizers of an event, and attendees. This discussion took yet another detour and changed to a suggestion of changing the main page article (Currently the wrap up thread) to an article with the year's events listed, possibly with the next upcoming event listed at the top of the page. I will start another thread following this one about that topic. We ended our discussion at 8:30, and dead on schedule, Ken So arrived at quite literally the exact minute he promised. A few of us stayed around and chatted inside for a while, but things were not quite as social outside, mainly due to the gloomy, damp weather. I climbed aboard my majestic big block, and slid off sideways in to the night... |
