So....hears the story. Left Brian's at 2 am after watching Hamilton win the Chinese F1 grandprix. Car wouldn't start (again), I noticed a guy walking his dog on his cellphone - didn't connect he thought I was breaking into my own car. Police turn up - No sirens. While I have my head in the engine bay with a pair of pliers in one-hand to snip-off the zap strap around the plugs going into my MSD ignition coil and a long red wire contraption with in the other-hand. (Note: now the 3rd time this has happend this week since the weather has got colder.) So here I am now trying to explain to the police officer why I have - what apperas to be a special car jack device in one hand and a pair of cutters in the other. "What's your name" the office shouted - I replied. "Is this car registered to you", "Yes" I replied, and this is an ongoing problem." Then the office looks at me with this strange look and say's "ferrari's have an ongoing problem?" Now...I have to get out my ID etc etc. Heart rate going up and up. Another office comes out of his car...they talk, then say "You can go", I guess they confirmed it was a Fiero and I owned it. get back into their respective SUV, and two cars and drive off into the night, leaving me standing there in a daze. It fit the gizmo on the MSD ignition coil which Blair made for me and the car fires up immediatley, and I leave. So...any comments on cold starting issues and possible fixes? Nigel |

Okay Nigel, spill the beans. Just what IS this contraption and what magic powers does it have? Should we all have one?

Well Blair has the WorldWide patent on this as he invented it. (Gotta give a Guy some well deserved credit.) It is current beyond my personal knowledge base. Yet at 2am this morning, it acted like a divine miracle

Zens car has a bad electrical connection between the battery and the coil. My gismo is a coil plug with a wire to the battery bypassing all the connectors and switches. To find Zens intermittent open in the electrical the pink coil wire should be found in the wire bundle under the console. Connect a test light to this point and wait for the car to act up. If the light is on the problem is behind you. If the light is off the problem is in front of you. After that it's just a matter of following the wire. This test will only work when the car is acting up. |
