ok so I'm buying another Fiero, this one was built from two Fiero's but its a 1984 with a 6 cyc (was put in from a car with 60,000k on the motor) the car says it originally has 216k on the car. The Fiero price guide cant put a price on it because 1984s don't have 6 cyc.
http://www.fiero.net/price.html it has power windows, mirrors, tilt steering, power trunk release, floor matts, sun roof, power locks, wipers and rear defog. and it has a fresh paint job a brown int the inside is a little worn. so what I'm asking, can anyone price this for me? |

I honestly don't know how someone could have put a V6 into an 84, but if they got crazy enough I guess it could be pulled off. If you had to go buy a book price, just look at as an 85 2M6 as that is basically what an 85 2M6 is, its an 84 body style with V6 running gear. The 84 wiring was drastically different than an 85 V6 and they were not interchangeable. The 84 fuse block didn't even have the provisions for the V6 fuel injection, so if the car was an 84 and they put an 85 drive train into it, they would have had to have changed 90% of the wiring in the car or hacked, chopped and really gimped it all up to work. So I would be real careful. |

I think you should go buy the 'another' one. ;)
Really though... as Capt pointed out.... to ram a V6 into an 84, it's pretty much got to be a partial hatchet job. Why not just find a decent one?! It's not like nobody's selling them. Geez, I'VE had numerous ones for sale over the years alone! As for taking EFI off for a law. UHHHHHH...... no. Someone's feeding you a line there. Probably to sell you a car. If this one's been downconverted to a carb as well - WALK AWAY. |

Because I said so.
No, really though.... are you mechanically adept enough to handle a car that is now so far 'not off the shelf' it's not funny? Do you want to take a car that most shops won't work on STOCK to a place, and have to hand them a 12 page description of how it's been hacked together? I'm guessing not. From what you've described, it's a $500 car. It's still not a brand new engine even, so that's not much of a selling point. It's got worn out interior (by your description), and a high mileage chassis. There's SO many better candidates out there. Why beat yourself up with this one? In the end... do what makes you happy... but don't say nobody warned you. |
