Ok so I did some calling around today. For a new water pump for my 4.9 Cadero.  From what I have found on the Caddy and Cadero groups, the water pumps on 4.9s should be almost treated as routine maintenance items.

I got a wide range of prices.

Lordco has Fenco, for 66 bucks.  Its the cheapest, but the last Fenco I installed did not last a year before the impeller broke off inside the water pump.

Napa has Gates brand Lifetime warranty for $95

Alder has a Tech brand for $105 with a 1 year warranty

Premium has a Tech brand for $111 with a 1 year warranty.

I am thinking I'll go with the Napa lifetime warranty, as I know Fenco is junk, I know nothing about Tech, but seeing as it is more expensive and has a shorter warranty, the Gates one just seems like a better deal to me.

Can anyone comment on brands of pumps.

Oh side note, the Fenco is a reman pump, the Gates and Tech are NEW pumps.

I just popped in a Gates pump. So far, seems to function about the same as the stock one.

It probably is not the same style but curious did the gates have a metal or plastic impeller.

My one had a metal one, and I would assume the Caddy-version would too.
