As to the Ohm I think only the good Dr will be able to hopefully answer that, however, what I can tell you is that installed, Zero throttle should be apr .5 volts with no more than 0.45-0.55 considered deviation and WOT should be 5.0V with roughly 4.9-5.2 tolerance.  Anymore or less on either end and the ECM does not realize you are closed throttle or WOT.  At 5.0v the ECM assumes you are tromping on it hard, it then stops paying attention to the O2 sensor and dumps as much fuel (within reason) as it can into the engine.

P.S. when you did you get an 86 4 banger?

check "members rides" "my new 86". That should jog your memory.

cant wait to get her on the road, but she's suffering from high idle speed, and im scared she'll fail the idle test at air scare so im spending the week tinkering. previous owner had removed the egr, which is now replaced, and ive spent time trying to locate and repair any vacum leaks, tightened down the trottle body back to spec, replaced pcv and grommets, new valve cover breather,. still got high idle. checked the MAP sensor with a vacum pump, it seems to be stuck., so im going to put that on in the morning. The temp sensor to the ECM seems to be ok.

If any one has data on the ohm range on the MAP sensor that would be helpfull too.

I also noticed a tiny dead spot on the throtle pos sensor, so im thinking about sourcing a new one, but out of all the fieros, the 84-86 duke one is the most expensive- at least 100 bucks for that cheaply made tiny plastic little piece of ShI__.

looking at various forums it seems that high idle issues are fairly common to fiero owners so if any one has any advice im all ears.

oh yea, and ive cleaned up the main grounds already too in case there is a bad ground causing a goofy sensor reading.

when i get an extra pair of hands ill do an IAC test., thats coming up next.

question on the injector- im stupid on these because im an old school carburetor guy- how long should these last? it seems to be dumping a lot of fuel in at idle, so i comared it to ethan's 88 and his was doing the same thing, so it guess it is normal, but here is the question-

do these have a finite life time? when should they be changed? should the whole assembly be changed with a new fuel pressure reg as well?

are they expensive? the manuals, including the factory manual, has very little to say on the subject it seems, other than "replace it if its faulty"

oh, and one more thing- check engine light is not coming on (it works), so i am assuming no active fault codes.

on cold start ive seen her rev as high as 3800 rpm, then notch down in steps to 2800, then 1500 to 1800. some times it just goes to 2800, but in any case its a way too high. It never seems to drop below 1800.

hard to imagine that not generating some sort of fault code.

cant belive all of this crap just spilled out of me. sorry.

just tested my new map sensor and it behaves exactly the same as the old one, so i guess its not a potentiometer its a transducer of some sort and needs power to operate? kiss my 40 bucks goodby...

glenn (if any body needs a map sensor for an 86 duke ive got a brand new one...)
