The engine is the 2.5L Iron Duke and the trans is the 5 speed Isuzu. They both had 190xxx KM when removed and were in a working, fully drivable car. I'm hoping to sell it all together if I can.

Make me an offer.

The tranny is sold now. I still have the cradle and engine, but I'll probably be getting rid of the engine if nobody comes to take it away.

Thanks for the tranny, Colby. It was a pleasure meeting you and your dad.

If you put that in place of your 4spd....
... I hope you also bought the shifter, cables, and are ready to rewire the reverse lights (switch is in the tranny, not the shifter).

Unless you already have those from a parts car or something.

And don't forget the slave is different.

Yes John, I'm currently in the process of acquiring the necessary parts.

Any tips on rewiring the backup lights? Is it simply a matter of extending the wire in the console from the shifter to the 5-speed tranny?

Actually the slave is the same, just the bracket is different.

The Re-wire is as you guessed, just run the wires from the console to the back end, and attach to the 5spd.  If you don't have the proper connector, just leave it loose and snip one off the next time you are at a wrecker, its a generic GM 2 wire weather pack.  Or just cheat and use spades if you are really panicked about backup lights.

No sir!

'84

...and '85 - '88

Thanks for the info on backup light switch, Dave. I knew I should've snipped off that connector while I was at the wrecker's.

Oh thats right I forgot the 84 4spd had the odd side mount setup.  Sorry my mistake, however the Muncie 4spd and Isuzu 5spd after 84 all had the same slave.  You could also mount a later style slave on the 84 trans axle.  I know because I had 84 trans axles in my V6 car for years.

Yeah, that '84 slave is kind of an oddball.

Yes, but a lot has been taken off it (just a little more than what is shown in the picture).

We just pulled a complete 87 duke that is going to the scrapper.  Has an unknown issue with a miss.  Being an 87 it is NOT a direct swap for your car, but the exhaust, intake, water filler should be the same. Owner drove it in here just fine, so it is a runner but won't pass aircare with the miss in the ignition. I think the throttle body is different, might be able to adapt it,   Motor is being sent to scrap as we are installing a V6 to replace it.

AFAIK the intake is different in '87.  As well as the head.

i'm hoping to find something to just drop in, the engine i've got in it now is a mess, it's got a bad knock to it, but it goes away here and there, it sounds like it's in the head but i'm not sure, the wiring and vacuum lines are a disaster as well, so i'd like to find something that'll drop right in.
