Hey All,

I stopped by a muffler shop today and found out that my Cat needs to be replaced.  Now the guy at the shop said the stock is small but suggests a medium size one, he also has a large if interested...installed under $200.

Now not sure what type of Cat, etc., etc., anything I should know or be concerned about...any suggestions on a shop the club may have a discount at or trust with our cars?.

Cheers

Well for under 200 installed, you are getting a pretty decent deal.  I think I paid 90 for a universal cat and 80 to get it installed, and that was going to 2 diffrent places with all the related hassels of driving around and picking it up.    Just make sure the pipe for the cat is at least as large as the stock Fiero pipe and you should be fine.   If you can get a larger one that would be better.  As the 84-87 Fiero's don't really even need a cat to pass air-care so one that does less but will last longer is a good bet.

I had one put in a few years back.  It was a universal high-flow stainless steel cat from Lordco.  Think I paid around 130 w/ taxes then took it to a place on Kingsway to have it installed for like 40bux cash.  I dont remember the name but it's just east of Edmonds, towards New West.

Probably "Muffler Man".  Corner of 14th ave & Kingsway.  I've taken zillions of cars to them.

Just have to be subtle on the 'cash deals'.

Last Thursday morning I took my '94 Hyundai Elantra in to Muffler Man to have a leaking/broken/rotted exhaust connector replaced with a welded in elbow. They took the car into a bay immediately and it was ready to go 30 minutes later. The price was a very reasonable $65 (parts and labour), however the fella who runs the place stated that he wouldn't do a cash discount as "everything has to go through the books". True or not, that's what he told me.

I also asked the fella if the shop was "Fiero friendly". He flat out stated "no". He said they hated working on Fieros. I'm serious! I asked him directly if they would work on a Fiero if it was brought in. In the end he finally stated that yes, the shop will work on Fieros, but that they just don't like them.

I was happy with the job they did on my Elantra, and the price was right, but I might have reservations about taking one of my Fieros there with the unfortunate negative attitude they apparently have of our favorite little plastic cars.

Hi all,

I did post these guys under vendors and somehow the post is gone...I will re-post.

I had Quiet Muffler & Brake Ltd. put in a Walker Hi-Flo Cat all in at $280, then I went back and added my new tips for all in $190.

They are great guys and have no issues with our cars.  They are on Kingsway just across from the old Highgate Mall.
