The idea has been proposed that we have an Iona Park Run soon.  So i'm going to put it out there right now.  Ken, can you explain what you have in mind and tell us a bit about the Park?

What about April 10th, the Sunday right after the next meeting?

Chime in homeys.

Sunset at Iona Park

The back side of the airport at the entrance to Iona Park

Watching the planes take off

The big pipe to the ocean

BTW...my regrets, I will not be available April 10, nor will I be able to make the meeting on the 9th of April.

That day was just a suggestion Ken.  You decide.

Yah...let me think about it and find a timeframe when I'm available and lots of Fieros can make it out.

So the question I have for the rest of you, who have their car(s) stored for the winter, when will it be out for driving? I think we could be a pretty good head turner if a whole line of us are cruising together through some very public places. It would certainly raise awareness of the club as well as the cars we love. If you insure for 6 months, would that be May to October?

Maybe this post should be on a separate discussion thread.

Well, if we don't fit this in May, June will be really really busy.   July, I am out of town, August, there is the club camping trip, as well, I plan on going to Northwest Fiero Fest.   I wonder who else will actually come with me.

So we are likely looking at September. That might be a good way to sort of close off the official driving season.

Sounds good Ken.

How about Sunday Sept 11th, right after the meeting on the 10th?  If you are good with this I will post it in the calender.

Thanks again for so many good ideas.

I'm wondering if Victoria Day, May 23 is a good day for this.

Comments anybody? I think I'm free that day.

That day should be okay for me. Hopefully the weather is good; I will then bring my Sheltie. We love walking at that park. Nobody probably should go near the water though!

Doesn't look like there's enough interest in such short notice to make this happen.

Let's see what my schedule looks like in September.

Oh well...that's too bad. I'm still ready to go if anyone is interested. The weather may not be perfect though.

If the weather is good on Monday morning, I'll post up an impromptu evening sunset drive there.   How does that sound?

I'll put it on the email list as well as this forum thread.

We can meet up somewhere and drive there together.   Any suggestions that is somewhat central?

I was thinking in the Walmart parking lot at Queensborough.

The weather forecast for Monday sounds like it will be okay.

Hi Ken. Sorry I can only do morning to early afternoon on Monday.
Gotta work later in the day. But I think the weather will be rather
crappy anyway...

Turns out it is a nice day afterall.   I'm going to go to my parents' place for
dinner and then head over to Iono Park to take some sunset pictures around
7:30 or so. If anybody is interested, you're welcome to join me. ... at Iona
Park.

Ken, I've taken the hound a few times to nearby McDonald Beach, but I've never been to Iona Park. I was wondering if it was "dog friendly".

I came across this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQrVdJkIKtk - Here  of the jetty shot with a helmetcam by a guy on a bike. One of the most boring videos I've ever watched on YouTube.

Iona Park is very dog friendly, Patrick. I have been going there, with and without my sheltie, quite a few times. Dogs can run off-leash (technically not allowed though) on the beach front (grassy and sand).

And you've got to check out this hugh pipe that goes out about 3-4 km into the middle of the sea. The park board makes a running, walking, biking track out of it. Gorgeous sunset with sitting area at the end of the pipe. It's a huge pipe about at least 10-20 meters wide.

Thanks for the info, Robin.

That was evident in the video I linked to in my last post. If you have 12 minutes to blow on the most boring video in history, check it out.
