and registration is http://www.karelo.com/register.php?BID=374&BT=10#Ev10899 - here .

We are making a few improvements to the event, the first being that we will no longer be doing registration and payment onsite. From now on, this must all be done online via Karelo, just like UBC club events. This will eliminate the clumsy morning registration.

This event is capped at 50 drivers. Pre-registration via Karelo is mandatory. There will be absolutely no refunds. We will only issue a credit for future autocross events if you cancel within 24 hours or more in advance. If you "no show" for the event, we will not refund NOR credit you. If you are not sure you can attend, please do not pre-register. Pre-registration on Karelo is the only way to sign up for this event. Those showing up with cash on the morning of the event will be turned away.

Cost is $40 per driver, and includes all fees and taxes. ( HST number: 81333 1451 RT0001)

PLEASE MAKE A NOTE IF YOU ARE SHARING / CODRIVING A CAR.

Please note: You do not need to be a Porsche Club member or own a Porsche to participate. We welcome everyone to join us! Friends and family are welcome to come and spectate as well: there is no need to sign-up if you just want to watch, however EVERYONE that is on-site MUST read and sign the liability waivers.

There is absolutely ZERO TOLERANCE for any burnouts, reckless driving, or loud stereos on Ford Road at any time. Anyone caught breaking this rule will be immediately, and permanently, banned from all 3 local autocross clubs without warning.

Please obey the stop signs abeam the runway, and wait for any aircraft that are taking off or landing before resuming.

Gates will be open by 8:00am. Please don't arrive too early as a line will form on Ford Road, however you must be onsite and checked-in by 9am, or you will not run. The last run will be finished by 4:30pm. If you drive, you must work. If you cannot work, or need to leave early early, it must be prearranged with us, or else you will not be welcome back.

Free instruction and a limited amount of loaner helmets are available for novice drivers! Drivers of all skill levels are encouraged to come out!

You are welcome to bring your own helmet as long as it is a 2000 or newer model M or SA helmet.

Please make sure your vehicle is free of all loose objects, including your trunk compartment, and that your battery is firmly bolted down in place. Any vehicles found to be mechanically unsafe will not be allowed to run, and no refund will be given.

I buggered up my foot and I don't know if I'll be able to drive by then. : If I can't drive then I'll probably still come by to say "hey". :

Allan, what the heck did you do to your foot?

Mishap unhooking the equalizer bars on the weight distributing hitch of my trailer.  In an instant, a couple hundred pounds of force was sent through a steel pipe into my right foot, pinning it to the ground.  I lifted up the pipe and slid my foot out and then in a couple of seconds, the top of my shoe started to turn red.  Now my foot is a variety of colours and I can't walk that well.  I kinda hobble around.  Not too much fun.

That sounds awful. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for ya, bud.

Thanks guys.  I'm heading back to the doctor to check up on a potential circulation problem.  Sometimes it seems that more blood is spilling into my foot rather than go where it needs to.  Good thing biology is interesting to me or else I'd be more concerned.  Oh well, I have a spare foot.  lol!

Yeah, but you need two feet at the track! Or I suppose you could drive an automatic, but that would suck!

Brian, I'm glad you're going to be there, but...

July 2nd is still 11 days away. Does that mean the Fiero is definately a "no-go"?

Posted By: Bassman
Date Posted: 21 June 2011 at 4:09pm

Since I will have those R-Comps, it will be the Mazda3 and will be fun to really push the car and not have the tires squeel like Tris, and I may...quote may retire the Fiero to a pleasure classic car, I cannot afford these bills, someone could have made good coin from me from the club but no one jumped at the offer...this will be over $1500 that I was not planning for, and still may not work...

Allan, bring the wifes Merc, only need one foot...and I don't have a compressor...lol, my canopy died in Hope at the RallyX, wind killed it...lol

The guys there seem to use them without issue. And the one fellow told me due to the relatively low torque output, it negates the need for a torque stick.

Squal the tires like Tris? Hehe, I was one of the few drivers who didn't spin their cars even once last autocross (Though I can't deny one launch was a bit too hot, which resulted in a lot of tire smoke and a slow start).

I know $1500 hurts, but hell, I'm on an apprentice's budget and I spent that on tires for my truck. DON'T GIVE UP BRIAN!

I would think that it would depend on the output of your inverter.

I wonder if that has any "balls"?

Brian, what's wrong with using a regular wrench? Hell, we'd all chip in to help if there's some "physical" issue. Seriously.

lol...it is my back Pat, more loosening, I have my torque wrench.

And not giving up on my baby, why do you think I am looking at buying this on Friday:

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/car+care/car+care+kits/dual+orbital+machine+polish+wax+kit.do - http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/car+care/car+care+kits/d ual+orbital+machine+polish+wax+kit.do

And a whole wach of other items like sealant...Mazda3 will get the paint sealant then wax.  Fiero I want that show cae finish again, it's been years, I plan to "stack" the layers starting with clay, paint glaze, machin polish #2, then best of show wax

Then also I want the glass kit, want to see if I can get all those wiper blade streakes taken car off, chips not so much.

Again as with the bleeder system, detail resources will be made available to the club...but I want the 3" & 6" orbital polishers...so ya, spending too much money...lol

+1

Those things take plenty of power.  The Snap-On 24V Li-Ion impact gun is pretty sweet.  Borrowed one from a friend at the track once.  You'll need to save up a mortgage payment though.  :(

Looked at the link to your canopy/tent thing.  It has frilly edges, just like you.

Allan, I'll be bitch slapping you soon:)...the canopy is not frilly, but picked it up on the way home, and nice to have when white folk like you need shade:).

I guess I can try that gun and see...it is CT, so if I don't like it, take it back, but for $50 and it saves my back...so be it:)

Now time to fix my PC...piece of sh*t...lol

Ah my virgin ears (Eyes?)!

As for the Canadian Tire comment, I don't know what's been up lately, but all the tools I have from Canadian Tire have all been performing flawlessly, whereas my Craftsmen gear wrenches are already falling apart. Besides, I cut Canadian Tire some slack for hooking me up with custom-order rims for $100 per rim.

They are my current race tread, 100 treadware...

That's why I want to sell my Enkei's, and get a dual bolt wheel with the slicks...then I can use either car, and have the 15" and R888's for track and wet days, they are awesome wet autox tires.

It's been too long since the last one and with the addition of the final engine mount (dogbone) there isn't and shaking under hard acceleration anymore.

Ya...that's why I put them on at the track

I emailed the owner and as you can clearly see how his Toe on the alignment was really off..so I'll rotate and wear them down for him...and you can also tell his last time with them was at Mission for a track day...lots of pick up

Yep, I'll come to watch and go for rides. Foot is still too tender to abuse and I really want it to be ready for ORP mid-July so I don't want to risk delaying the healing process.

Woohoo! Glad to hear that, Brian!

It's going to be great having all these Fieros out on Saturday. I just hope the suspension mods we did to my '84 at Gary's last weekend will help to get my underpowered duke around the track a little faster than previously. With Colby moving up to the V6 powered '88 Formula, I'm feeling a little pressure now as the only guy trying to demonstrate that a 4-banger Fiero (with a whopping 90 HP) can compete at all with higher powered cars on the track. It's an ominous task!

Posted By: Romeo

Well, assuming Dan and I get the engine done in record time (And he doesn't murder me), I might be able to sneak in as well. Unlikely, however.

That would be great Tristan, but yeah, that might be cutting it close.

Who else in the club can we convince to come out? There's several club members with perfectly good Fieros ready to roll who'd have a gas if they tried it. One of them just bought a nice '87 GT 5-spd. What's his name again? Hmmm.... I do recall posting the following though.

It'll be hard, but I think I proved that my 2m4 had the potential be apart of the the pack (albeit, near the bottom) rather than in the bottom 5, at least on some courses. It's easier when it's wet out, since a Duke with the right tires can almost drive like it's a normal sunny day due to the lack of power while the other cars need to restrain themselves a bit.

Sorry Colby, but I believe it was Nikola Tesla who theorized that: V8 > V6 > V6-with-blown-rings > Hustling-on-foot > Duke.

To be fair, most of the cars I've beaten have been other 4 cylinders. You should have told the few V6's and V8's I've beaten about this theory though, maybe it would have helped them out.

Back in '96 I beat a 5.0L Mustang with a 1991 4-banger Tercel at a regional autox at Blackcomb Mountain.  The Mustang owner got severely razzed by his friends.

Patrick, when my foot is better I might need to borrow your mighty Duke and take Tristan to school.

By the way, David helped me get the engine today. Needs a slight clean and hone (There's a touch of surface rust in some areas). I managed to get it out back home (At the expense of my back, as no one at my house felt like helping me move it the fifty feet to my garage), so now I just need to get it over to Dan's to finish the swap.

At the last Porsche Club autocross on June 5th, I arrived at 8 AM and was one of the first ones there. I had the entire back area to myself.

As long as we all get there this Saturday just before 8 AM, we should be able to have a Fiero (and 914) paddock to ourselves.

Having said that, it would still be fun to meet up at the McDonald's first so that we could all arrive en masse at the track to strike terror into the hearts of our competitors.
