Hi, I have a question. Do all 86/87 fieros have silver ground effect?

Looking to get a Fiero gt but want collectors insurance, would it qualify with same colored ground effects. For example Red with red ground effects, like this fiero on craigslist.

Thanks :)

I believe only the 1988 Fiero GT had the body colour ground effects.   Earlier years were silver.

Depending on who does the assessment when you apply, some may not know that.

When it comes to paint, it doesn't have to be a stock paint scheme.  The important part is that the colors used were available then.  In other words, if you could have requested it straight from the dealer, it's good.

I agree with Dawg. You just don't need original paint. You just need to paint the car back to what was available for that model year. Given that the GT was only available for 3 of the 4 years the Fiero was produced, as long as you paint your car one of the available colours the Fiero came in (White, Black, Red-various shades, blue, yellow-various shades), I don't think ICBC will make too big a deal about it.

Hey Ken it’s a common mistake for people The Fiero was 84-88 so naturally people think it is a 4 year run, its not, that is actually 5 year run.

1 84

2 85

3 86

4 87

5 88

And there were actually 4 years of GT just only 3 years of the Fastback

I am smiling as I write this, it just kinda funny that so many people think the Fiero was a 4 year only car.

I stand corrected.

The GT was a 4 year run.   3 years of the fastback.

The 86 SE was essentially the 85GT.

I think it's probably because 88 is four digits higher than 84 (Mathmatically speaking), it's just human nature to then draw that parralel to the years. Long story short: I blame 1984.
