So, main issues to address:

1.) My temp gauge rose to 260 and sat there forever, saw
smoke coming out of my Thermo housing. Tightened it and
ran it back home, hitting between 240-260 and dropping
then rising.

Replaced the Coolant temp sensor earlier, stayed around
120-220 but then I drove 5 minutes down the street, thick
white smoke coming from my bay, stopped and it was now
coming out of the head/under the valve cover.

Bought a new water pump, thermostat to install tomorrow.

2.) Was told it might be a valve gasket leak, or not
enough coolant.

So tomorrow I'm doing an oil change, cooling system
flush, gasket change (If I can get the EGR off... the
bolts are rusted to all hell),

But white smoke coming from under the valve/behind the
valve cover? Thinking it's not enough coolant in the
engine, what do you all think?

Sounds like serious engine problems to me. White smoke coming from
there is excessive blow-by, which is typical of a worn out engine. Could
be bad rings or just worn out cylinders.

Have you done a compression test yet?

That is where I would start before spending a whole bunch of money
replacing stuff for nothing.

Hey Dawg.

Good news/bad news.

The good news is that what sounded to you like serious
problems were minor, replaced the T-stat, flushed my
cooling system, oil change and now I stay at the first tick
on the gauge.

Bad news: Leaking cooling all over my engine from the upper
hose, time to replace that

What about the white smoke?

It was VERY low coolant.
Solved by flushing the system, burping and filling it back
up.

Next step, I still have a leak in my upper hose connecting
to my Thermostat housing, need to either get a new hose
(Ordered already) or try to see if a new clamp will fix the
problem.

I'd rather just replace the hose, but how hard is it to put
a new one in? Space is really limited, any tips?
