At the meeting we just had I announced that neither Dave or I would have a car on the road for this run. I really tried to have mine ready but way too many delays getting parts and so on. My motor is still not in the car.So....it was suggested that we postpone the run till Sunday August 5th. That is the middle of the long weekend so traffic should be reasonable.
We got a show of hands to see who was ready to go next weekend and only 2 people put their hands up.
If there are any more people planning to go on the run on the 21st, pipe up now. Otherwise, lets aim for the 18th of August
Keep your eyes on this space for updates.Dawg
**** UPDATE ****

OK....there has been some changes.
At the last meeting I mentioned we were looking at involving other
clubs/groups into our runs. Well it looks like we have the opportunity to
do exactly that with this run. But, they need time to round up the
people.
So, in the interest of getting a great turnout, we are proposing to move
the run to Saturday Aug 18th. Anyone really hate that idea?
If this works out, we will be inviting others to all our runs from now on.

I spoke to Javin for a while after you left, he estimated about 12-15 Skylines would be able to make it. We talked about the fact that previously we ment at the McDonalds at Willingdon and Hwy 1, at 10am. He had a request that we make a fuel stop at a Chevron as that is the prefered fuel for the Turbo Skylines. This could be a massivly cool run Fiero's and a bunch of Right Hand Drive Skylines tearing up the Sea to Sky.

As a matter of fact, there is a Chevron just across the freeway from
McDonalds at Willingdon and Canada Way.

Well it looks like we might have a large turnout this year.
Remember we all meet at 10:00am at the Willingdon McDonalds. I will
be there early to get some breakfast. Feel free to join me.
Everyone that owns radar detectors please bring them. Also, we always
chat on channel 20 using those GRS hand held radios. Bring extra
batteries for your radios.
We normally stop in Squamish for snacks and fuel. Once we get to
Whistler, we always try and park in the free gravel parking. Then it will
be a free for all till 3:00pm when we head back home.
See you all there.
Dawg.

Hi Dawg
In past years, for the Whistler Run, we have parked at a
pullover just past Horseshoe Bay and waved greetings to all
of the cars as they drove by. This year we plan to drive up
to the nudist beach (I can't remember the name no matter
how hard I try)and meet you all there.
Are you still going to stop at the beach??
Cheers

Hey Dave.
Nudist beach? Porteau Cove? I have no idea.
As for the Cove, we will have WAY too many cars to fit there. This
means a simpler run with less to coordinate.

HI dawg
I didn't realize that you were so young.
Yes, many, many years ago Porteau Cove had a nude beach,
used by a small number of people. Of course there was a
lot less traffic on the road back then (the road was a
killer!!!), and the nude part of the beach was hidden
around a corner somewhere(I never even stopped there on
my 2 or 3 trips to Whistler over the years). But as the
crowds got bigger (to the newspapers of the time, big was
anything over 12 people!) the neighbours began to
complain about nude or semi-nude bodies traipsing through
their back yards on the way to the hidden part of the
beach. A heated (and amusing) dialoge followed between
all of those involved, and eventually the nude part of
the beach was closed for good.
Or so it is said!

I haven't heard back from the other clubs yet. Could end up being 8 or
more of us and as many as 12 Skylines. 2 other clubs may be attending
also

It looks like there will be at least 10 of us.
Javin, one of the Skyline guys, has asked if anyone has an empty seat
he could occupy for the run. His car is having oil pressure problems.
He would love to join us all if possible.
I will PM his number to whoever is interested.

So Dave......what's the word on your 88 joining us? You going to be
around?
Took my car for a good run today. Sounds like a happy engine. Still not
running right but good enough for the run.

Its still up in the air for me, I went and bought a couple new batteries for the 88 and the V8 today, had plans on getting the car air cared today, but by the time I got the batteries it already 32 heading for 35, so I went inside to get out of the heat for a bit, fell asleep and didn't wake up till after 6. Went tinkered with the car and am having a minor wiring issue. If I can get it fixed quickly I am going to try and aircare the car Tomorrow. I really want to come on the run, but I really need to get to Oregon.
So in the end I really don't have a straight answer. I will probably make my decision on Friday.

Looking like I may have to bail. I still need to install my water temp sensor
for my new temperature gage - I don't know what temp I am running at right
now - I have not drained the coolant and added my water & "Bellow 40" mix
yet. This makes me awful nervous! Especially seen tomorrow may be the
hottest day of the year, 30 degrees plus up there ya know!
I may just show up at the meeting place and drive as far as Lions Bay with
you all — meanwhile I have the Mrs. getting me to post on Craigslist a
garage sale for tomorrow morning. A real mans work is never done

Looks like that makes 2 that are going to have to bail. The 88 failed Aircare today, I am going to go and buy 3 months of insurance for it tomorrow and do some work to it. I ran it over to Chris's shop today, and we did some work to it, fixed the E-Brake which is totally different on an 88 vs an early car. Replaced the fuel filter which was really plugged up. Car has a couple issues, like its not Pre-Priming the fuel system when the key is turned on, and brakes are a bit spongy. I am going to need the brakes in top order as I am taking the trailer with me to Oregon.
The good news is the soft clutch that I had when I first put the motor back together has firmed up a lot.
Guys please have fun and watch out for cops. We don't need anyone going to jail on the run.

A great little run today, ladies and gentlemen. It was
great meeting you all. I really hope we get a lot more
Fieros out on future runs. I had lots of fun driving up
and down the sea-to-sky
