I didn't sign up for the Whistler Run of earlier today so
I didn't get any of the directions from anyone ... We
just went!

As many of you know, I have a serious medical problem
which prevents me from participating in many (any!)
events, especially if it is hot or if I am out in the sun
for too long. Therefore we decided to participate in
this event by driving part way on the course then parking
in a shady place and waiting for the cars to come by, at
which time we would wave enthusiasticly (sp?). To insure
that we would beat the other cars to our waving place, we
started on our way at about 9:30am and drove to a nice
shady spot we knew close by Furry Creek with a beautiful
sweeping curve leading down to where we were.

We got there at about 10:15am and set up our camera and
waited for the Fieros to come. Well we waited and waited
and waited some more but the only thing that we got were
dirty stares from the drivers who thought we were a speed
trap with the camera pointing at them (what police
officer drives a bright red Fiero, has a lady driver
(Joanne) and is parked at a funny angle to the road?)

Then the Fieros started coming We took a couple of
pictures (which, because of the speed didn't turn out)
made a quick run back to our car and tried to catch up to
the back of the pack. We looked all over the place but
couldn't find them, so we had lunch in Squamish then
drove back to West Vancouver and took in the Park Royal
Show and Shine (they must have lots of money over there
because the cars were noticably better than those at the
Edgemont Village show of a couple of weeks ago).

I must say that a good time was had by all, my Fiero ran
like a charm and we're looking forward to the next event!

It was great seeing you and Joanne with the red Fiero by
the side of the road there, Dave! Our caravan of four
just came out of a photo stop at Porteau Cove. I was the
last one (black) in the pack waving at you

I saw you Dave.  Michelle and I waved like crazy.

Man this is by far the hottest Whistler run ever.  It was really nice around 10:00am when we left.  By the time we got to Squamish it was getting uncomfortable.  Whistler itself was an oven.

Anyhow, the day started off with 4 cars in attendance.  Michelle and I, Jim and his Wife, Robin and his gal and last but not least Dan who was on his first run in his first car, with a day permit to boot.

Now keep in mind, I had a new engine in my car that wasn't totally fleshed out.  So right off the bat it wouldn't idle reliably.  No problem as long as we never had to stop.  Yup, we needed to stop many times.  I made it to Whistler alive and quickly bought a screw driver to adjust things right.  Yes I know....I forgot the proper tool kit.  Other than that she ran pretty good.

So we stop for a moment in Whister to check out some parking, which was hell because it was so busy, and big Jim's car spews coolant out the drain hole of his water pump.  Heat soak I suspect.  We limped it to Lordco and filled it up with coolant and it made it back to Vancouver no problem.

Robin had no problem at all and neither did Danny.

We headed back home in fairly thick traffic but man it was nice.  I hope everyone had a great time.  We sure did.

Next year, we leave earlier and we go earlier in the year like we had planned originally.

Thanks for the great company, all of you.

Good run!

Dawg

I had a great time as well. A bit warm in Whistler, my car
wold barely start from fuel vaporization in the heat.
Still a good fun drive and I'm looking forward to getting
full insurance and going on more runs.
