My rear brake calipers are in need of a rebuild, does anyone know of a local supplier of rebuilt calipers/rebuild
kits for the 88 calipers? ------------- 88 duke, bog standard

Go to Lordco and use the club discount. They should have rebuilt ones. No one sells kits anymore it seems. The kit ends up being about the same as a finished caliper. So why bother. Dawg ------------- You dream it up....I'll make it |

I agree, I rebuilt the one's on my 87 silver coup with the kit just to see if it could be done, but on my blue GT i got them from Lordco. I think about 120 - 150 for the pair. |

got 'em at lordco for about $160. I looked at the 88 SM
and am glad I didn't try to rebuild them, the fronts maybe, but not the rears. ------------- 88 duke, bog standard

| With my VIP discount at North Shore Auto Parts, I was able to purchase two rear calipers -- rebuilt -- for my 84 Fiero at 60 dollars each including ($10 deposit) so the net cost was in fact $100. Seems like NSAP is much cheaper. |

It's been discussed here many times what an absolute ripoff that Lordco is. It's the last place I would ever buy automotive parts.

Unless someone has the time to wait and shop around all over town,
the club price at Lordco is still way better than retail. Many of these places that quote super low prices simply can't afford to keep anything odd in stock anymore. Unless you have special connections or rock bottom price is everything, Lordco still has it's place I think. Dawg ------------- You dream it up....I'll make it |

I'm not suggesting "retail" such as Canadian Tire, but it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to make a few phone calls to various auto part vendors. Or if there's a chance to plan ahead, order online from a vendor such as http://www.rockauto.com/ - RockAuto . Huge savings over any place local. It's not just me who's been displeased with Lordco.
