Coming up this Saturday, the BC Corvette Club is putting on their first open event autocross of the season. It's always a very laid back atmosphere at Corvette Club functions, and they welcome any type of vehicle... so come on out.

It's a single pad event (still plenty of fun) on the Justice Institute's new pavement.

Cost is $40 (to be paid in cash on Saturday morning). Please email Vic Nightscales  mailto:vnightscales@netscape.net - vnightscales@netscape.net  to let him know you plan to come out.

Picture from http://www.westcoastfieros.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3035&PN=1&TPN=1 - the last BCCC autocross in September 2012. I see four Fieros. Let's try and get at least that many out this Saturday.  And yes, we want to see the 914/6 out there as well.

Looking out the window, and the skies are clearing... right on schedule.

Should be a fine day tomorrow for autocross.

Brian, could I bring the bleeder by on Sunday or any other day that might work for you? I don't want to chance damaging these various items by having them being thrown around inside the trunk during autocross, and/or I don't feel comfortable leaving them sitting out on the tarmac unattended all day Saturday either.

And no, I won't be able to get them to you on Saturday morning before the autocross.

Just one lonely Fiero out there today.

And it wasn't exactly a duke friendly course.

However, the weather was perfect... Gary was there with his 914/6... Gary's brother Al was there as well... and I was pleased that I got my act together in the afternoon. Not only did I improve my times, but I stopped killing cones.

Just having a beer to unwind now, and I'll be reviewing 3D footage shortly.

All in all... a good day at the track.

Absolutely fantastic day! Gary kicked butt out there! I'm
very proud of my brother for driving his car extremely well
today. It was tough for me to catch up.

Kudos on a great job, Gary!

Oh it's painful to watch this. It forces me to re-live the frustration of having no acceleration to help deal with this course.

3D video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsS0GC1uV_U - "Fastest" run

I'm working on putting together some of the shots I took while standing out on the tarmac.

Gary, with where my camera was mounted, to get the effect you're requesting I would've had to have been sitting on the hood!

Thanks Ken. I didn't post the run where I mowed over four cones and then said some bad words.

I made a contraption that allowed me to stand upright while holding the camera about a foot off the ground. The idea was to enhance the 3D effect by having cones in close proximity in the foreground while various cars whizzed by on the track.

Presenting... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tlfUvQBLw4 - Mostly Gary

Yeah, you've got to be a car nut to appreciate the video.

Gary, what are you going to do when I give you a pair of 6-
point harnesses this winter?

Patrick, Nice camera work.. the edit looks like i was just going round and round.

While i viewed the runs, a breeze was drifting in an open door.. it was just like being there, minus the heat.

Al, i guess my bobbing head days are going to come to an end.. It will be an interesting transition..

I wanted to post the official course map so that the in-car videos might make more sense.

I didn't buy a Mini, so I had to purchase my 3D glasses through eBay.

However, just $4 for five pair of plastic-framed anaglyph (red-blue) 3D glasses direct from China to my doorstep... and that included shipping!

I gotta say though, I'm not all that impressed with anaglyph 3D video. The image/color quality of the video really takes a dive when viewed in this manner. For short videos, the "cross-eyed" technique with no glasses results in much better 3D video quality.
