One of the things we are short of this year has been drives. There has been requests for a drive and fall colours will be upon us so let's do a photo-op drive to Harrison Hot Springs.

It occurs to me that we have Fieros from all over the place from Vancouver all the way to Hope. I don't know how many will still be on the road but how about a meet up and join the parade as we make our way to Sasquatch Park at the end of Rockwell drive.

Other than myself, Glen and Joe, can anybody else make it?

It will be a Sunday afternoon drive.

If you can join, please post on this thread and state where you can meet up along Highway 1. Then we will set up a route and schedule for meet up.

Sure, you can bring up the rear to make sure none of us
break down and get lost.    Or drive on past us all and
take pictures.

Okay...time to get this organized. Who's coming? What is a good time to
meet up with you and where are you coming from?

I can free up anytime after 10:00am. or can start in the afternoon.

Add your name in this thread and where you are so I can plan the route, as
well as what time you can start up. We will firm up everything by October
25.

We meet at McDonalds on Willingdon just off Highway 1.
Glenn and I met up there last time we did a drive. We
leave McDonalds at 11:00am.

Anybody want to catch us on the way to Harrison? Let me
know where you are. I will post a final proposed route on
Friday night.

Hi Guy's
I've put my Fiero in the garage for the winter but would like to take it out for a last run to Harrison. Since I live very close
to Meadow Garden Golf Course would I be able to join you there instead of McDonalds.
Also;
Ken may I suggest a slightly alternate route. We turn of the Lougheed at the (the Meadow Gardens Golf Course). We go
north from there and take Dewdney Trunk past Stave Lake hydro dam and rejoin the Lougheed after Mission. This way we
would avoid the Maple Ridge and Mission city traffic.

And I thought that the West Coast Fiero Club web site would recognize a URL
and make it a link. But it didn't. So let me try again.
Alternate route to Harrison:<https://maps.google.com/maps?

I give up. Just copy and paste!

It appears there's been a few changes. We can no longer select to receive email notices when PMs we've sent have been opened, and the max file size allowed to be uploaded when posting images has also been reduced.

I suspect someone has gone in and simply reset things to "default", which is not always necessarily best.

And oh yeah... the forum has now gone back to reporting at the bottom of a post whether and/or when it was edited.

Close Dave, but no cigar.

Henry wanted https://maps.google.com/maps?q=McDonalds+on+WIllingdon+burnaby&hl=en-GB&ll=49.260663,-122.986751&spn=0.000056,0.049438&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=43.528905,101.25&hq=McDonalds&hnear=Willingdon+Ave,+Burnaby,+British+Columbia,+Canada&t=m&fll=49.260803,-123.005676&fspn=0.017589,0.049438&z=15&layer=c&cbll=49.260247,-123.006764&panoid=iWaXO42_B_NxbzqNnXUw5g&cbp=12,152.75,,0,5.4 - THIS .

EDIT- Actually, that's probably not what Henry wanted either.  That's just where the drive starts. I think he wanted an alternate route on a map. Oh well...

The drive is looking like this....

1. We leave McDonalds at Willingdon off highway 1 at
11:00am Sunday, October 27.
We will drive along Highway 1 ($3 toll on the Port Mann
bridge) to 200th St exit and then take the exit and go to
Ricky's on 88th Ave and 204 where we have our meetings.
There we will regroup.

2. Then we will head under highway 1 at 202nd and get
back on Highway 1 eastbound towards Abbotsford.

3. We will take the McCallum Road turnoff at Abbotsford
and head for Highway 11 (Glady's Ave) and cross to
Mission. From Mission, we will proceed East along
Lougheed Highway and then follow signs to Harrison
Hotsprings. We will park near the boat trailer parking
area and regroup.

There are a few people from the Harrison area who may
join us. We should be there around 1:00pm and we will had
for the Sasquatch park day area.

Hope you can make it.

We leave whenever and head back via Highway 1.
Officially, once on Highway 1, the drive is done. You
can return home any way you want. I will likely follow
Jim in his Focus

BTW....since this has been posted on more than 1 forum, it
is likely there will be road safety patrols along our route
so we do not condone speeding (so if you must, do it at
your own risk) and especially no dangerous driving...pass
carefully on the Lougheed, if you must.

In case you missed it, those in the Maple Ridge/Pit Meadows side will have
to meet us at the Mission Bridge when we cross the Fraser from Abbotsford.

You should have chimed in earlier if you wanted to meet up in Pitt
Meadows. Those on the south side chimed in first so the route go set up as
such.   We leave Ricky's at noon so will likely be at Mission around 12:30?

See you there.

And Patty, nothing has been reset. To my knowlege. The image upload

Sorry Damien, but I'm not imagining this. Changes have been made... by someone.

The image upload limit had been raised to... I believe it was 400k, for quite awhile. Take a look at the images in http://www.westcoastfieros.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3224&PN=1&TPN=1 - This thread for example. If the limit had never gone beyond 200k, how can you explain that both Colby and I uploaded and posted images that are around 400k in size?

Posted By: Dawg
Date Posted: 25 October 2013 at 6:49pm
Well, I didn't do it. Only one other person could have and that would be
Graeme. Bandwidth reasons perhaps?

Either way, 200k is plenty I think. I also checked the general file upload
limit. It is 2mb, which is the maximium the software will allow.

Hey Ken
Why did you reject the Dewdney Trunk route?
I realize that, if we meet at Ricky's we will have to pay another toll, but if you
stayed north of the Fraser there would be NO toll!
This route takes you past the Stave Lake Dam which is quite beautiful this
time of the year.
Hopefully this link works. The image was too big too include on the form.

For those of you who are going to take the northern route to Mission I would like to join you if you are taking the Dewdney Trunk route past Stave lake dam.

The night before our drive....I guess a couple of things I need to address..

I will be in Burnaby on Sunday morning. Hence the first meet-up point will be in Burnaby. McDonalds on Willingdon is an easy place to describe so that's where we're meeting.

I had intended to take the northern route out, but a group chimed in first, to say they wanted to meet on the south side. Rickys where our meetings are held, everybody knows where it is so that is a good place to meet.   So those who wanted me to take Dewdney Trunk road, you should have said something earlier. However, nobody is stopping you from taking that route and meeting us. I think a good place to meet would be at the Mission Hills Medical Clinic parking lot at the junction of the Lougheed Highway and the Cedar Valley Connector. That is where Dewdney Trunk Rd, The Mission Bridge highway and Lougheed Highway all come together.   Leaving Rickey's a noon, we should be there around 12:45pm.

I will be hungry by then but would like to get to Harrison as soon as possible. I will grab a light snack before starting and will probably munch on something along the way. We need to meet up with Joe and I don't want to keep him waiting too late. Also I need to get back in time to visit a friend who just had a baby.

If anybody is going to meet us in Abbotsford, please chime in.   I am considering taking Harris Road instead of highway 1 to the Mission Bridge.

My cell# is 778-882-7761 for those needing to see where we are.

See you Sunday...

Great Drive. Thanks so much for getting this off the ground
Ken. We had a great run and lots of fun. Had one issue on
the way back as my coil packed it in. Fortunately I carry a
spare, Unfortunately I swapped out he distributor before I
checked the coil. Always check the coil first (haha) Great
weather, lots of sun and fun roads.

Hi Ken, I know you had to leave at a certain time today.  I didn't have a chance to say thanks for putting the drive together, it was great that Henry had a chance to show us a different route that made the trip even better.  Too bad I didn't have my 85 out though.
I hope we can all get together and do more trips like this and possibly and Okanagan trip some time next year..
Jim
ps forgot to say thanks to Glen for his support for Ken and getting the drive set up.

Thanks to all who showed up. It was a great time. Thanks for taking the lead for a bit and showing us a scenic and twisty route, Henry. That was great. You should do it more often.

Sorry Maureen. We couldn't find you when this picture was taken.

Yes, we will have to put another drive together soon. We do have a standing request for Dewdney Trunk Road and I have a few ideas to bounce off a group of drive organizers.
