Hello everybody. I have owned my Fiero for about a year and a half now. In that time I brought it back to life from a certain demise.

I was able to drive it a few times over the summer and just recently had it out for a couple of days. It is a 1987 SE V6 5speed.

The one issue that continues to elude me is the high idle. I can't seem to find any vacuum leaks. Car starts fine and is a blast to drive but the idle rarely drops below 1500 rpm.

Also I notice the last time I drove it the temp barley cracked 40 and interior heat was minimal. I suspected a bad thermostat but have not had time to take a look. Also it was a pretty cold day during the drive.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Shawn

Fix the thermostat first - then check for a cracked/broken
EGR tube. Very (!!) common issue.

I wouldn't discount the IAC or idle air
controller,as I almost lost it searching
for the same issue, and luckily found it
to be the problem. The club can help you
with the scan tool we have. It will tell
you if it is working properly, or just
replace it and have piece of mind it isn't
it.

Thanks for all the tips. I had seen that video before using the Cigar to find vacuum leaks. I actually made my own little smoke can but did not find any leaks. I think I will start with the EGR Tube and EGR first. I will keep you posted.

Thanks

Shawn
