My Fiero (86 2M4) started to make "a" noise today. At least I never noticed it before. It seems to be coming from the rear passenger side of the engine. It's not a knock like a rod, it's more of a clicking, but not like CV joints. It only happens if there is somewhat hard acceleration from standing still or if there is a lurch. Like if I was at 1500rpm and hit the throttle (my throttle cable is sticky), there is one click and then again when I accelerate again.
My first guess would be some sort of motor mount that clicks as the engine shifts it's weight. However it does not do it in reverse. Could the dog bone click as the engine torques? If so, how much is a dog bone and how difficult is it to install?
Anyone have any ideas?

A dog bone is usually around $40 and is extremely easy to install. The rest of the mounts are pretty cheap, around 20 bucks each and are a bit of work to change, but if you are going to change one, I would change them all.

Do you think it's the dog bone that could be making the noise?

I'm starting to think that it might be a CV problem. But does it make sense that it only clicks once every lurch?
