So this is basically my first car, im only 16 and have had the car for about 3 years..... Started off like this with a destroyed motor
Not having know how at the time i was limited to what i could do... i worked on the front end damage, and did some work on the interior
But Dec. 2008, I lucked out... I got a space at my school auto shop to work on it!!! I got a spare engine with the car btw so thats whats going into the car.
So the long haul had started...
The day we got the old engine out.... (PS Awesome day!!!!) After fighting with these stripped cradle bolts
for over a week!!!!!

Found a DESTROYED exhaust manifold
After a big push we were ready to start the car the day before spring break. Nothing..... Two weeks after spring break still nothing..... Tensions running high but stuff is getting taken off the list..... PS Shes a little worse for wear right now... i didn't get to wash her before bringing her into the shop. PPS the shop isnt that clean anyway......
Its getting there and i've learned ALOT!!! -------------

Its running now... sort of... the jerkoff who started tearing the engine apart cut some ECM grounds flush with the wiring harness and we couldnt find them for months it doesnt run great, its REALLY hot in the engine bay and the headers glow red after running for a little while. I did get to drive it home from walnut grove secondary to fort langley (thanks to Captin and his slave cylinder bracket).... it takes bumps SO much nicer than my bronco. driving it home from school though i discovered loads of problems. wiring was routed wrong and the extreme heat melted some of the wiring, there are several coolant leaks all in the back, and my clutch master cylinder is fudged but it drove and im happy about that... i deffinatly need to try and drag this thing to a tech session and try to get it running not so hot

bit of an update since i drove it home last year, the work i have done on it has included: moving it from one side of the driveway to the other taking the subwoofer out and putting it into my mustang and putting air in one of the tires that was flat so i could... move it back to the other side of the driveway i have started working on it now, i found really good motivation when i looked at the TOP hanging in the window and it was from more than a year ago i think i found the cause of the overheating problem i had (the PCV valve was not inserted properly at least i THINK its the pcv valve, the one on the front side valve cover coming up to the intake tube? can anyone confirm or deny what this is?) and i have yet to buy a battery for it which is probably a today job so that i'll be able to figure out if that was the problem -------------

i dont think that would cause all of your overheating, check coolant flow, thermostat if not new, thermostatic rad fan switch, and of course air lock oh or plugged rad? also how quick does it overheat? |
