Ok - I'm going to try something.

If you could post just the following:
Vehicle description (V6, 5spd, stock - or 4cyl, 4spd, turbo - just the basics though)
Exact mileage (kilometerage?!) elapsed
Exact fuel used (like, 32.04 liters etc).

Try to always fill up the same way (for example, I always go until it auto shuts off, then do a light squeeze ONE more time until it auto shuts off), then remember to reset your trip meter.
Then NEXT fill up, note your K's used on the trip meter, and the amount shown on the gas slip.

Post it all up here. I guess this will just be a combined highway/city chart to keep things simple.  Maybe note if you did 100% highway or something, so as not to skew the results TOO far.

I'm going to make up a spreadsheet showing all this, and I'll post it up as I get them with the updates.
Values will be based on there being 1.61 km's per mile, and 3.78 liters per gallon (yeah, it's US, but that's what all the original EPA etc specs were based on).

US Government EPA chart says:

Nobody has posted for an '87 duke yet, just tossed it in to rub in the mileage...

'86 Fastback GT, Engine 3.2

Fuel used: 31.847

Mileage: 246

Km/lt. Average: 7.72 km

I think that's correct km per lt...ouch I say, Ouch!.  Let's see how it works out as adjusted the timing with David today.  And from the adjustments made before this tank, was very happy to reached the 246km on a tank based on past I was lucky to have reached 200km for city driving, and I had a few lines before empty to go.

Another fill up (think I been out cruizin or something with the nice weather:)).

221.4km, 25.863lt (gas was cheap on the way home) = 8.56km per lt:)...I gained almost 1km per lt with the new plugs...hmmm:), let's see what the next tank does.  I also am certainly not taking it easy, heavy foot:)

On our upcoming trip down south...  this would be a PERFECT time for everyone to do a near total highway mileage reading.

If everyone fills up at the Chevron in Blaine (everyone resets there trip meter), we simply head down there, turn around and come back - then refill at Chevron again.  Note your trip meter and liters used.

I'll post a separate sheet for the pure highway mileages.

My tires are a bit oversize at 225r50-16  which would explain different oddometer readings, dr fiero at 232 and me at 225.

Total of 6.0 gallons, 232kms.  Mind you that was driving with a loaded trailer behind the car, spending a fair bit of time over 140kph.  The trip down had a great deal of "drive really fast, pull over take pics as the group approached, then let them pass and drive really fast to catch back up again"   Had I of been empty and driving like a sain man, I would expected to have used about 4.5 gallons.  Pure highway runs, I can usually pull about 450-500kms from a tank of fuel.

Blair!  Post up!  And make note of what your engine came from (99 Bonneville?)

The engine is a supercharged 3800 series 2 from a 99 Grand Prix GTP.

I did 5.8 us gallons of premium fuel for the round trip to Arlington with throttle play here and there.

dr. fiero edit: since I had no mileage, I stabbed in the dark at 229km's.  Sounded like a good number.  :)

Adding to the list, I just filled up yesterday:

~295km, 36.8L mostly highway

This will probably be the most highway my car sees.  It normally doesn't see any highway mileage in my normal driving so it'll be back down after this.

'86 GT Fastback (Ever so slightly modified)

1000KM pure highway

201L of fuel consumed

4.975KM per litre. It should be noted that towards the end of the 1000 mark the car was beginning to run hot, had two 180 pound guys in it, and was loaded with computers, food and clothes. Also worth mentioning was the fact we rarely slowed down to less than 140KM/H. Guess that last detail kinda defeats the overall intent of this though, I'll take another estimate from non-psychotic driving and post it later.

Dr. Fiero could you add a note to my Highway milage, that I was also towing a fully loaded utility trailer at the time.  I was  averging 140kph wtih sprints to 160kph.

Well John, you might as well add my sad figures to the table.

1986 GT auto

173 km 80% city (driving like an old lady)

26.037 L

173 ÷ 26.037 x 2.35 = 15.61 mpg

Date Posted: 04 December 2008 at 8:46pm

This is pathetic...

1986 GT auto

199 km 100% city (still driving like an old lady)

32.555 L

199 ÷ 32.555 x 2.35 = 14.36 mpg
