Oct 11th -- Saturday –10am to 5:30 pm Tech Session then Club Meeting 7pm – 9pm Tech Session and Club Meeting Removal of Rear Sway Bars, Front and Rear Suspension, Headlight Rebuilds. http://www.westcoastfieros.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=71&PN=1 - Club Meeting Location Info
We will be hosting a Tech Session Oct 11th at my place. 16908 104th Ave Surrey B.C. The Tech session will start at 10am and run until 5:30pm, at 5:30 we will wrap it up and leave for the club meeting at 6pm. Topics to be discussed and addressed. Headlight rebuilds, and Suspension Components. Installation of rear wheel bearings. We are going to go over the front suspension parts, as well as dismantle and rebuild at least one 87-88 headlight motor. If someone else would like to discuss a topic, or do a demo, please speak up. I am no expert on the 84-86 headlights so I really can’t offer any advice aside from replace it.
Oct 18th -- Saturday – 3pmLangley to Harrison Hot Springs and Back. Meet at Starbucks Coffee Co - 604-455-0515 8660 200 Street , Langley , BC V2Y 0B3
We are going to be doing a joint drive with the BC Probe Owners Club / Mazda MX6 Club on Saturday Oct 18th. The run will start at the Starbucks on 200th street. 1 block South of Trans Canada. It will be an evening run. We will meet at 3pm and head for the Fort Langley Ferry. We are going to cross on the Ferry as a group onto the Lougheed Hwy, take the old Lougheed all the way up to Harrison Hot Springs, hang out, have a bite to eat, and then plan to take Trans Canada back to Langley. I would estimate the return time to be around Midnight. Please make sure to bring your FRS Radio’s, Radar Detectors and Emergency Tools, Kits. This run may prove to be a bit on the spirited side. Our drives are generally spirited, but I don’t want to see anyone trying to “SHOW OFF” against the other car club. I plan to have the group on the road by 3:30 so please be there early enough that if you need gas, or want to get coffee or Wendy’s or Tim Horton’s (which are all across the parking lot) you have time to get there and get what you need. We will run Radio channel 20 Sub 00.

Amazing how my name appeared on the list before I even posted in this thread. Yep, I'll be there!
However, I better pass on the Harrison Hot Springs Cruise. I haven't worked all the bugs out of this GT yet to trust it on a "spirited" evening run to someplace I'm not all that familiar with. I don't want to take the chance of being stuck in the dark somewhere between hither and yonder.

If the weather is good, I may ask for assistance to tighten my front right wheel bearing as I still can't do this myself...would be nice to insure the car for the day and get this done before I store her for the winter.

Dave also put me down for the Harrison run, as I will have new wheel bearings. Also possible new rear brakes.

Never having been to an all day club tech session before, I was wondering if we break at some point for lunch, or do we simply bring something to snack on during the course of the day?
I don't know if I can have my breakfast at 8am or so, work on a car all day, and not eat anything until after 7pm.
And in case we run out of stuff to do, I'll bring along replacement hinge pins and bushings for my driver's door.

People usually bring drinks and munchies, and as an option, there is a McDonald's and a Wendy's about a 5 min drive from the house. There is also a store down the street with a Hot Case and a Quiznoes about 9 blocks away. Same complex as the Quiznoes is a Tim Horton's, and across the street from that is a Subway.
But back to tomorrows plans.
There will be 3 spots on the Concrete and 2 spots on the grass as well as 2 spots beside the driveway to work. We are going to have Lisa's car up in the air to replace a front upper ball joint, maybe 2 depending on time. I will have my car jacked up to replace the rear sway bar bushings. Nigel's car will have to be in one spot in the driveway to replace both rear wheel bearings, as well as remove the rear sway bar. Patrick we will have to get your car in one of the spots to get it up in the air as well.
Everyone please bring tools. Please keep track of them. I will have specialty tools available, but I can't have people randomly digging through my tool box to get stuff. If you have a good hyd floor jack and jack stands, please bring those. I am not going to be able to help everyone all the time as I have already got myself stretched pretty thin, but I will be there to answer major questions.
I hope to have at least 3 cars being worked on at a time. I'll have both my air impact gun and my electric impact gun in use.
For those that need to keep things cold, I do have a fridge in the garage. (Its a small bar fridge so don't show up with a 24 pack case of beer and expect to keep them all cold. But a 1 liter of pop or a few cans of pop are alright.
Again touching on food, well probably stop and send someone for McDonald's around 1 or 2.

Ok rough map is here, http://captfiero.com/harrison2008/8688%20200%20St,%20Langley%20TWP%20BC%20to%208688%20200%20St,%20Langley%20TWP%20BC_files/8688%20200%20St,%20Langley%20TWP%20BC%20to%208688%20200%20St,%20Langley%20TWP%20BC.htm - http://captfiero.com/harrison2008/8688%20200%20St,%20Langley %20TWP%20BC%20to%208688%20200%20St,%20Langley%20TWP%20BC_fil es/8688%20200%20St,%20Langley%20TWP%20BC%20to%208688%20200%2 0St,%20Langley%20TWP%20BC.htm
This is only rough guidelines for times. We could end up early or late depending on speed and times of people to get organized. I had to enter destinations alone the route in order to keep Streets and Trips going on the roads I want. We will be re-grouping at the Gas Station at 240th and Lougheed Hwy after we cross the Ferry. The river should be high enough to keep the dip driving onto the ferry to a minimum.

Brian I thought Kerstin was getting in touch with places?
I wonder what the Harrison Hotel restaurant charges for food/banquet room. The only place we have ever been to that I liked was the little Bar in the Basement of one of those restaurants on the main strip.

David, since for some reason I cannot navigate on the Probe web site, can you find out how many people they are expecting, it looks like 6 cars max. With that said, we have 10 cars...almost 20 people plus them...we should make a reservation, so here is a listing I found where I can call as most of these places maybe hold 20 people...lol

Hi all,
We have driven by this place every time we go to Harrison, then we always try to find parking and a place that could accomodate 20+ people:)...Not sure how many from the other club(s), but we are close to 20 people, with them we could be 28+.
I suggest The Old Settler Pub, there is ample parking in one lot, nice decor & settling, they accept groups/reservations which I HIGHLY SUGGEST I call TODAY, and pub fare food.
David, since I cannot post on their site (all messed up), can you and confirm how many people we should plan for, and what time I should call for the reservation...then they can prepare, bring in another staff member, etc.
Here's their site: http://www.oldsettler.com/ - http://www.oldsettler.com/

OK, reservation made for a potential 5pm arrival, I advised that we are hitting the Albion Ferry and latest would be 6pm, they were fine with this.
The area is their patio that is covered and heated, but open to the wilderness...so please advise everyone to bring a jacket, fleece, etc. and be warm...it's the only area that can hold all of us.
Also with other calls made, the old restaurant/pub we have been too is closed, and other than that would the the German restaurant or the Hotel...so we lucked out here.
Being in the industry, they now can plan for servers and the kitchen can be prepared for a large hit with our orders:)...they seem to do this often with car/bike clubs.
So David, advise the Probe/Mazda club that we are set, and they certainly have a lot of parking in their lot or on the main road...Cheers:)

We are going to be doing a front brake job Tim’s car Saturday morning starting around 9:30 am. If anyone wants to be up at the butt crack of dawn, you are welcome to attend.
My address I 16908 104th Ave.
Surrey B.C.
Cell 604-807-2623
If you get here and you don’t see the garage open please feel free to call my cell and I’ll come running.
We will also be doing some cleaning to the cars, maybe some wicking and tweaking things.
This offer is open to the probe guys if they want to borrow my shop vac or what not to clean up the cars.
This run is turning out to be huge. I spoke to Clynt on the phone and he is bring his custom chop top Fiero. I hope John Carlo is coming as well, as this would get to get both of the clubs famous chop tops at the drive.
If you have portable digital Video cams please bring those and if you have a passenger please get them to get video of it. I will post all video’s on our high speed server.
Well that’s all I got to say.
Oh one last note, we will be stopping for fuel between Maple Ridge and Mission to get there ubber cheap gas prices. So please make sure you have enough to make it that distance.

Along with the number please post a short description of the car you are driving. So if someone does not have a radio or is lost, you have a way of talking to the person. I urge every to print the numbers that get posted and bring them on the run.

Hugh that sucks, your car would have loved this run, twisty roads then a highway blast. Well Family is more important than Fieros' so I hope everything goes well. Take Care.

Gas in Mission was 1.13 last night. It might be a penny cheaper at Silvermere. Would like to go with you guys but the '85 SE has no insurance on it and is parked at my shop in Port Kells. Also have to work Sunday. Work is such a pain in the arse. Takes up so much time from other things that are fun.
To Hangman ... The car sat for a long time and so there are bound to be a few glitches. As I had mentioned, the suspension does need a bit of work on the bushings and the craddle bushings were in need of replacement. The master and slave cylinders for the clutch were both new. You may need to take up a notch on the clutch activation arm to keep a fluid pressure. Hydrolic clutches can be troublesome to get correct.

Hi guys...
Wish i could've made this run with you all.
Unfortunately i'm down with the flu but i'm sure you'll enjoy the company of our other BCPOC members. Should make for a good time.
Hopefully this will not be the last WCF/BCPOC run so when the next one arrives i'll be able to attend.
Good luck and have fun....oh..and drive safely!!

I have to edit the videos and convert from from MOV to AVI and then post them, but here are the photos.
The run overall was a blast and I have to give a huge thank you to the Probe / Mazda guys that showed tremendous support for our club. It was a blast doing a joint run.

The run was lots of fun and everything seemed to hold together fairly well mechanically speaking. A couple minor issues and some stalls, but we didn't need to break out the roadside kits for anyone (As far as I know anyway)
Thanks again for the good cruise and hopefully our clubs can get together again for another one. Shame it'll have to wait until the spring now.
I have some video that i've captured to the PC tonight, but i don't have the steam to edit it right now. I'll probably work on it tomorrow and see if i can't get a short vid together.

Well here it is, I have to admit, it actually to be honest, kinda boring. About the only funny parts, were when I had to chase one of the Probes around traffic and the Bumper Cars, err Go Karts, LOL. The video is 7mins long, 640x480 res 30fps. , 41mb. It was rushed together as I did not have much time to play with it.

If you get board with the video, just check out the root of that folder, www.captfiero.com/videos Make sure and watch the 6th gear video (In misc non Fiero). Probably one of the best local racing videos ever. made.
Anyone that does have video of the drive and needs a high speed host, drop me an email to capt@captfiero.com and I'll set you up with a place to host the file

Ok - I finally figured out some crap in Adobe and can export my video, so i will start clipping together some video from the cruise. I don't have a lot so it'll be short. meh.
I did however capture the 2nd go kart run around the track from my in-kart camera and its posted online now :)

Be sure to leave some comments if you like it. And check out the other videos i've got posted up too. The Mountain Mischeif video is amazing and was put together by Lomac.
I'll post the cruise video there in the next couple days too when i get it cut together. Capt, i can probably send you the actual FLV file to host up too if you like, or encode it to WMV if that's preferred...

Ok, well driving solo and recording without some sort of camera mount is harder than you'd think! I managed to get some video but a lot of it is shaky like the Go Kart footage. So I whipped together a real short minute and a half vid.

Enjoy!

Yep...that was funny. Great video work seeing as you drove one-handed, and it appears also beat the pack. What did you have under the back of that thing or was it something you eat???
