You need to fill in a few blanks before you are going to get a correct reply.

How high is the idle, it should be about 1000rpms once warmed up or about 1200-1500 on cold fire up.

Most Fiero's will idle high when the ECM is changed out sometimes for up to 15 mins of driving until the ECM resets the IAC.  IAC = Idle Air Control Valve.

As to the running rich thing, all Fiero's run rich when cold due to the single wire non heated O2 sensor, however again once warmed up they should not run that rich, if you are getting a rich condition first thing to check is the O2 sensor if you don't know when it was changed last change it.  Same goes for the spark plugs, dist cap and rotor.  Plugs should be NGK UR5's.  Cap and Rotor get the MSD cap and rotor set.  www.captfiero.com/ppc has many of the common part numbers and listings.

Where are you located and do you have access to a scan tool.  The club has a scan tool that can be used at club meetings, events or under special conditions you can bring the car to my place and I can scan it here.  We do not loan out the scanner.  I am in North East Surrey.  You can also pm Dr.Fiero as he does Fiero repairs in North Delta / South West Surrey near Scott Road.

OBD 1 scan tools can be bought on Ebay now for under $100 and will save you a ton of time and money.  Don't buy a code reader they are damn near useless and you can do the same thing as code reader does with a paper clip by jumping the pins on the ALDL connector.

Well I am in Fraser Heights 104th Ave and 169th St.     I've got a Fiero coming in at 7:30 tonight to do some work on so I am going to busy outside, however I'll try to give ya a call sometime this week.  If you can get the car over here, we can run the numbers on the ECM and check the Chip in the ECM to make sure it all is correct.  If you have an aftermarket chip in the ECM take it out and toss it in the garbage.  That is probably half your running rich issue.

Hey capt, FYI this was my old car.

Tk, the ECM was temporarily swapped out
when I was trying to get it to run but i can
insure you that unless you swapped it, it has
the stock 85 gt manual trans ECM in it now.
Look into vacuum leaks or failed sensors,
capt set the timing so it shouldn't be that.

If this is Roadfury's car, I would start with the O2 sensor
and go from there.

If you have A/C, just make sure it's not simply the A/C cycling on and off (which it also does in Defrost mode). I'm serious.
