Ok I need to buy a new Scan Tool before I Can go much further on my 857GT Fiero. Clynt I know you have a good one, Damian I know you have a good one, could you guys post up info on yours so I can start watching Craigslist and E-Bay, I have a pretty limited budget of about $100 to buy one that does OBD1 and OBD1.5 that my Caddy is. The club scanner albeit works on Fiero's it won't work on my Caddy and frankly I don't like the bulky size and dealing with the extra power cable as well as the OBD cable plus the scanner is just out of date with its cartridge style box. Anyone got any good suggestions on scan tools? |

I have an Actron CP9145 scanner that I bought used on eBay for about $ 100, with an OBD I (cable end is actually marked "GM"cable, not "OBD I). I downloaded a manual from the Actron site, but did not use it since the scanner itself guides the user in the right direction. I also have a second cable OBD II 3.0 that I have not used, and don't know its application. Mine came with a power cable that plugs into the cigaret lighter outlet, so I did not use the internal battery option.

I have an Innova CanOBD, works on every vehicle I own. Stupidly expensive though ($300). Hooks up to laptops though, which is nice.

And actually, David, could I borrow your scan tool one time? I can't get the 454 to settle down at idle (1500RPM) so I was hoping to force the IAC to back off, which my stupid tool wont let me do.
